It's been almost five years for me. I lost all I wanted. I went through stress and couldn't eat, got down to an unhealthy 114. I regained it slowly and have returned to my weight from before of 145-150. I can put on a few, maybe 8, if I eat too much. I haven't had plateaus, so I can't address that.

I am just over 3 years out so not really that far in the grand scheme of things. I got down to an anorexic looking (or so I kept hearing) 124 lbs after my Mom passed away. Then I went up to 143 which freaked me out. I know the gain was due to discontinuing my thyroid meds but I got back on them and stay around 132-134 which is a really comfortable place for me. Everyone is an individual and their progress is the same. Best wishes.

I heading on towards 2 years and am down 125-would like to get another 12-15 off. I haven't really "stopped" losing-but it is coming off very very slowly and each pound seems like a major breaktrhough now.

I am 2 years out.....again, not exactly a seasoned longtimer. However, if you go back too far you'll find the people had quite a different version of this surgery, so the info and comparisons would be hard to do. I lost about 100 pounds...down to the goal I had set. I am very happy with that. However, I now struggle daily with grazing and wanting to eat high fat and/or high carb foods. I have wandered up a few pounds and feel panic rise, but so far am maintaining ok.

Almost 3 years 12-2004
Lost 130 feel really great, I have anemia problems, but still worth it!!

I have to work at what I chose to eat, I gain weight really easy, but I keep in a 5 pound range and stick to it!

I am 2 years out in November and have been at this weight range 5-7lbs up or down since January, but lost 130lbs. I want to drop 20 more but in time, I have had a stressful year so far and my body is comfortable here.
excercise will get it off once i can get back into a routine

I am 2 years and 2 months out. I lost more than I anticipated losing and am very happy with that. I have to watch what I eat or I gain weight but have averaged within 6 lbs of 126. I struggle with wanting to slip back into the old habits of eating high fat, sugary foods - BUT - my body warns me by making my blood sugars go sky high if I eat like that. Then I feel crappy and get my eating back in line.

Thanx all sooooo much for your replies it is nice to see people that have have the operation for longer than me so that i can ask if i have any questions. It is good to see that you are all getting to or have reached target. People have said that this is the easy way out but they are wrong we still have to work hard at this weight loss malarky.

I have lost around 110 pounds in just over a year and have been told that this is about average so i am happy - i must admit i did not have a goal just to be healthy at the end of this. I feel fab now i might add so you could say i have achieved that and i am very happy but i know i still have a good few pounds still left to shed i will get there

Thanx again everyone
