Smile 8 days since op

Hello it is now 8 days since my op and I am starting to fell better. I find the painful area were the port is and when I went in for the op thought the port was going to be fitted near the bottom of my tummy? But it is not is very close to rib and thats very sore still..... still early days yet?

I have to go back to birmingham to have the dressing looked at and pre op review then I am hoping they can tell me why I am having trouble drinking the shakes they have asked to me stay on for 8 weeks. I find them to sweet and can only drink about 100mls at a time.

My confusion is this... when I went for the consultation I was told that the better the weight loss in the first 8 weeks before the first band adjustment, was the best as it will be the start????? .......................

Now I have been told that some people gain weight while the body adjusts after the first fill? Can anyone help me please as I know I have lost weight now but I am not really having enough to keep a sparrow alive. I can manage about a 300 ml can of heinz tom soup a day at the moment then I am totally full.

I like many others on here will have battled with their weight for years and this is a huge committment to us all to have this procedure done and I only want to know from people who have had this done.... as other people really do not understand do they?

I look forward to hearing from you all with your advice

have a great day Dianne

Hi, I am one week post op with the lapband. I am in a lot of pain still and there is no way I am eating as much as they want me to. Are you on a liquid diet right now? I am on a puree diet, and I can't stomach the protein shakes you are suppose to drink in between meals.
Good Luck,
gina

Good Morning Gina

Like you I can not take the protein drinks and feel very sore and painful were the port is. I am also on the liquid diet for 3 weeks then soft food but all I can manage is about 300 mls a day of tom soup. My tounge is yellow and I am so pale all the time but apart from that like you I am never hungry.

I dont think I really thought the pain would be like this area in the wound area did you? I will know on wednesday when I go back to get my wounds checked and get weighed what I have lost but I know I have lost some as I could do my coat up yesterdya for the first time in 6 months.

I keep day dreaming do you about the future and how happy I am goin to be at christmas time wearing a little dress and making the most of having a family time without stuffin my face like I do and have every other year. This is that start of a happy furture for us all.

When I first went for my consultation I was in shock when they told me I was 17st 10lbs as my GP had told me the week before I was 18st so looks like some weight had come off on its own? I then started the shakes for the 3 days before my op as I went in on a cancelation and by friday have laost 4lbs on the shakes so I am looking for a start weight now of 17st 6 and on wednesday hope it wll be below 17at if I am lucky.

I would like to loose about 8st in total and then I will be bakc to what I was 6 years ago but this time we all know with the help of the band it will stay off.

Do you have amy targets at the moment?

take care Dianne

Default Hi Again

I weighed myself today I was down to 271 lbs. I am still feeling very tired and sore where the port is, My port is on my right side, Where is yours? In pictures in pamphlets it looks like the port is on the otherside. But maybe I am wrong. My doctor also does a newer procedure where he attaches the port to the muscle because it will stay in place better. I am now starting to miss food, But I know I am going to a better place. My longterm goal is 240 for Christmas.. We will see.. I hope you feel better.

Hello

I am going today for the wounds to be checked and hopefuly that will allow me to have my first shower in 10 days lol. Washing is not the same is it.

I am going to get weighed today and pray I have lost alot of weight as like you I am still in pain were the port is . I hope that passes as when the pain does catch me it really hurts? does yours? Mine is alos under my left brest area when I saw the first video of the operstion I thought the port ws in the hip area did you?

I was 18st when I first got weighed then when I got in for my I had gone down to 17st 6lbs with the shakes so today I would love to be below 17st (I know I am dreaming on that one but hoping lol)

I would like to be down to 14st for christmas and then my first goal for me will be acheived..... my total goal is 10st by my next birthday in August I think it might be acheiveable but not sure. This was my present to myself this year for my birthday and next year I am having a party to celebrate the one I missed and for my new look.

nice to email lets keep in touch

Thank you for your congrats Ron and I wish you well in your op. I think in my mind after my post today you will see I attended my 1st support group and have mixed feelings about what I saw and heard. I want to loose 8 stone in total and was shocked it had taken a lady 18 months to loose that yet she was thrilled do you think I am expecting to much.

I have never been to your part of the world as I am to big to fit in an airplane seat with comfort so these are the things I am hoping to change in the future what are your aims in and goals in the lap band Ron.

have great day Dianne
