New here - Spouse Support
Hi everyone - I am new to the forum. I am not actually the patient, but the wife of the patient. My husband is really wants to have the Lap band surgery done and I am doing all of the research for him. I had some cosmetic surgery done at the beginning of the year and found that forums were so very helpful in getting through things. That is why I am here. Is is highly unusual for spouses to join forums in order to get support? He is very busy at work and I want to help him with information and support as much as I can. I hope I have come to the right place. Thanks!!

This is the best place for information and support. I think it is great that you are such an active part of your husbands journey. It should make is easier for you to understand what he will be going thru. There is no question that can't be asked here, most all have already been broached. Feel free to do searches on past threads, there is a world of wisdom to be found there. No, it is not unusual for a spouse to be a member, we have a lot on here now. Best wishes.

This forum has been so supportive to me. There is only so much research you can do, I have been researching 1 1/2 years on the lap band procedure, last month I found this forum (first time finding it in 1 1/2 years) and it helped me make up my mind. I have submitted all my paper work to the surgeon and I am just waiting on the appointment. I found ALL my answers here from real people and they are all so supportive and willing to share their own personal journey with you.
As 'JenBear' said she was "paying it forward" for all of the support that she received on this site and I told her, for guiding me, I would do the same.
Welcome, and ask ANYTHING, don't be shy, there is no question that will go unanswered.
Joanne

Your hubby is so lucky that you care to be involved in his process! This place is awesome, any question you have has been asked and answered, many times. The search feature in the header is invaluable!
Welcome, we look forward to sharing the journey with you and your hubby!

Spouses are welcome Is there a reason hubby doesn't want to do his own research?

Actually, he is doing some, like talking with co-workers about their experiences. But, since I am a nurse and also kind of a nerd who loves research, he knows that I will do what is necessary to find out all of the ins and outs. I am also a stay at home mom right now and have a little more time than he does. He has a very busy and high stress job that just doesn't allow for a lot of time to research. Every night when he gets home, he says "so what did you find out today". So, it isn't for lack of wanting to learn things, it is just more logical for me to do the research.

Welcome!
Hi there and welcome to the family!
I am also a newbie - only joined in July 2007 and still pre-opp.
As I know how intimidating this forum can be when you first start exploring it I thought I'd give all the newbies a few pointers as to the threads that made an impression on me:
