Default Anyone else do the Lap Band?

Just wondering if anyone else has done the lap band?

I had mine placed on 11-16-06

So far I have had a brisk weight loss of 44 lbs. I got my first fill on 1-4

Hi Val

The lap band section was just added this week (I think) so there really hasn't been much activity yet. Great job on your weight loss so far!

WOW!! Great job on the weight loss!! I too had LAP band surgery done in December of 2005. I didn't do as well as you though. I only lost 15 pounds and had about 12 fills and unfills. I am having my band removed and getting bypass surgery next month. My doctor said it just doesn't work for some people. So here I am! Good luck to you, you are off to a great start!

Question why lap?

What made you decide to do the lap band vs the gastric bypass? Did you look into both procedures?

Did your doctor offer any advice to which one to choose?

HI

Thanks everyone. I am feeling pretty good. I just hope the "ride" doesnt end. I worry that the band wont work forever, but it is right now so I am going with it. I am following the rules, which arent different then the RNY rules closely. (well maybe a 6m. RNY person, not a newly done one!!)

Blevon~ I really didnt have a choice. I have cardiomyopathy, and with my heart in its current weak stake, I was way to much of a risk to go under for the time required by my DR for the bypass. So I decided to go with the band and make the best of it. We talked about me loosing 50lbs, in 9m. and hopefully regaining some heart function, and then going to the bypass. Right now at almost 8 weeks out I am down well in weight, almost the first 50 that they thought were going to take me nine months to do, and my heart hasnt improved yet. So I just keep moving foreward, and hope I either improve my heart enough to have the bypass, or loose enough weight that I am happy with my loss. Right now I am happy with my loss, and I hate to think about another surgery. LOL
