OT: Anyone ever work at Lane Bryant?
I don't know if any of you have ever worked, currently work or know someone who works for Lane Bryant, but if you have this might be of interest to you. I worked for Lane Bryant a few years ago. I was contacted by a legal firm in Seattle and they informed me that they are putting together a class action lawsuit against Lane Bryant. For those of you that have worked for them you know that they "require" you to look Sophie. Sophie means that you must look "the brand" You must have at least 5 items on preferably all Lane Bryant i.e. shirt, pants, jewelry, under garments ext. They required you to buy the clothes that they sold and strongly encouraged that you ware only Lane Bryant fashions. Also if you did not fit in to their clothes you would have to go to other stores like Express and find similar outfits to their brand. The only problem is that they change the line every 6-8 weeks. So you intern would have to buy new clothes every 6-8 weeks. We did get a 40% discount but the cost still adds up. New clothes are expensive at Lane Bryant and even with 40% off full price is a lot to spend so often. If anyone is interested in joining this lawsuit I have the info. If any of you know anyone who might be interest in doing this, and they are not a part of the forum, let me know and I will forward that info to you for them.

Wow that is interesting to know Holly. Wow the ugly side you don't see of these big companies. I hope all those employees get the justice they deserve. I don't hold much respect for companies who treat their employees that way.

i worked there a couple years ago too! OMG i spent a FORTUNE on clothes Every time there was a sophie weekend i dropped atleast $200 (usually more). Our manager was a TOTAL stickler about ONLY wearing LB clothes. One girl in my store got sent home cause she was wearing Torrid pants and she had 2 customers in one day ask her where they were in the store cause they wanted to buy them lol. Please PM me the info! Id love to find out more.

Ifeel for you. The only problem is with a class action lawsuit, the lawyers get rich and you get maybe $13.00 and a layne bryant coupon.lol
I would never participate in a class-action.

I am not looking to get paid. They asked me if I wanted to be a part of it and I said OK. It will not cost me anything and I don't plan on getting anything back. The point is what they are doing is wrong. If they want you to dress the brand then they should give you the clothes. That is the point of this.....not money

Amazing. As often as I've been to Lane Bryant I never really thought about what the employees were wearing but that is ridiculous. Now, if LB actually bought the clothes for them it wouldn't be such a raw deal because most companies like to tell you what you can wear to work anyway (although they rarely tell you what brand
All this being said, I have to admit I haven't actually purchased anything at LB in about 3 years because the I don't like the direction they've gone with the clothing they keep in their stores; not enough variety and not my style. Their catalog has a few things I like but even that isn't what it used to be. Before my surgery I bought things from Silhouettes (the absolutely best magazine for large sizes).

The other side.....
Working in retail for almost 18 years. If It is not a uniform then it's not free.
I don't see the problem with having your employees wear the Brand. You are promoting an image.
Every retail company has GENEROUS discounts.VS,Gap,Limited,Ambercrombie...the list goes on.
The Limited Corp. enen has a cross brand discount,I get 40% at Bath & Body Works,Limited,Express,Men's express and Victoria's Secret.
Maybe Ca is different but every job I have ever had has told me upfront what the dres code is.I know when hiring,It's part of the job offer reight after the "you'll report to work on...."
Just thoughts from someone in the Business~
