Silly question?
This may be a silly question but I have to ask. After surgery and all is well and healed and am back to a normal kind of life I wonder how I am going to cope with drinking water/propel whatever. Specifaclly after working hard in the yard and sweating and all that good stuff, now I really enjoy drinking alot of propel quickly.....like at least 1 bottle (16.9 oz). i dont see how that is going to be possible after my surgery. Can someone tell me what to expect?

You wont be able to drink fast at first. You will just have to sip slowly. After a few months you will be able to drink more at a time. Remember your pouch is smaller than your mouth. You will fill it up fast.

I think after your surgery - when you are pretty much Forced to sip... you learn that way of drinking and tend to pretty much stick with it. I too am a gulper, and worried about this too, but so far so good.

I can gulp. I can drink pretty fast but if I do I get a tummy ache but there have been times when I needed that gulp and I didn't worry about the pain. Not killing pain, but enough to tell me to take a break for a bit.

The first few months you are sipping like the queen of england. Now I can take three or four mouthfulls at a time of water after working out. I am 5 1/2 months out from surgery.

We're all different....mine has been similar to Ryn's. Right after I could drink regular drinks, then small gulps. I can't actually guzzle, and doubt I ever will though. But the little gulps do the trick most times. I get full a lot when I drink, especially if it has any protein in it.

I can drink pretty fast at 3 1/2 months out...no major gulping, though, but i do get all of my water (and then some) in each day (like 75-80 oz.).

water
You will get used to drinking smaller amounts. I bought a "camelback" for hiking and that works well because it is easier to keep on sipping without constantly taking out the water bottle. You could use that for yard work too. Pam

I'm six months out as of today, and I can drink pretty normally. Every once in a while I'll forget myself and gulp down faster than I should, but my pouch quickly reminds me to STOP! Fortunately with liquids, the uncomfortable feeling is gone very quickly. So no worries!
