How much did your surgery cost?
Hi Everyone,
I just got the statement from the hospital today. The bill for my surgery and hospital stay was $28,114.66. Gosh, I didn't know it was so expensive! Fortunately, insurance paid for all but $1,189 of it. Thank you, Blue Cross!
Just curious, how much did yours cost?

I haven't gotten the bill for the surgeon yet, but the hospital bill was $34,000 - and thank God Blue Cross picked up the entire thing

My surgery, in 2000, was approx $30,000. However, I decided to go into respiratory distress due to the morphine. Once they stopped the morphine, I felt sooooo much better! I guess I dont like too much morphine! Was in ICU for 2 nights, on the floor for 2 nights, then home.

The hospital bill my insurance around $40,000. I only had to pay $100 co-pay. I am so thankful for the insurance I have.

That's funny, my EOBs are just coming in. I have to pay $100 copay for the inpatient hospital stay, and 10% of the surgeon's fee--$159.00.
My insurance rocks!!!

My bill was around $25,000 I believe. Blue Cross paid for the whole thing except the final physical from my PCP. They said that I exceeded my PCP visits for morbid obesity. It only cost my like $170. It was well worth it!

My bill hasn't shown up yet, but I'm told it's about 25k. So far I've paid about $35.

One thing to remember is that what hospitals bill and what insurance pays are often very different. My hospital bill not including the surgeon was $59,420.03. However Blue Cross paid them $5,600, I had a $1,400 copay and that was that.
