Let's see... the hospital billed the insurance $87,446. Since it's in-network with my insurance, I pay $1,156 of that. Then, my specific insurance has a two thousand dollar co-pay for the surgeon fee. Since he's also in-network, I pay a little less than that. My portion of the anesthesia bill is $343

So, all in all, I end up owing a little over $3200. Not a bad price to pay at all.

I was really having a hard time with the wait as so many people seem to get in really quick but, these bills have just made me very thankful to be Canadian and I'll take the wait.

The hospital billed my insurance $51,100, of which I am responsible for $1,454. That seems to include everything at this point, including anesthesia and my 5 days in the hospital.

Default Self Pay

I'm paying cash for my surgery, thanks to a more than generous gift of my in-laws and the cash price is 17,760 and Credit Card/ Health Care Financing price is $18,019 (I don't know why there is a difference).

This includes

Surgeon Fee
Assistant Surgeon Fee
Anesthesiologist Fee
Radiologist Fee
Pre-Op Visit
Dietary Class
Up to a 3 day Hosptial Stay (no critical care)
2 month supply of Bariatric Chewable Vitamins
2 week and 6 week visit
6 month visit
1 year visit

And I had to pay an additional $230 fee for the initial consulation and Mental Health Screening.
