Are you guys with the big co-pays on ppo insurance? I'm just curious because I paid $10 per Dr. visit and that's all. I am shocked to hear how much some of you paid.

Mine was $20 anytime I had office visits......and I never saw my bill at all. I'm guessing some folks are with companies where it pays like 80 or 90% or such too.

Seems like everyone is about the same as the estimate I saw online: Gastric Bypass Surgery Cost: $28,640 - SurgeryCosts.net - Mine was 30k which was mostly covered by insurance.

My insurance was billed a total of 134,477.28 for my surgery (includes out of network specialty hospital, OON surgeons fees, leak tests, bloodwork all done at hospital)

My surgery was April 21st 2008. So far i have only recieved one bill and it was a radioology bill for 55.00 and its been paid (that was back in May)

I am going on 9 months out and Aetna still has 2 claims left to pay. I havent gotten bills from anything else for my surgery.

Im not looking forward to the day they finish those 2 claims and i start getting bills.... ughhhhhhh

I wish there was a statute of limitations on how long after a procedure a medical entity could bill you.

With UHC, I paid $11,000 out of pocket and $20/$40 copays. The money was fianced by my credit card for the surgery at 1.9% or I would have never done the surgery. I still cant believe that I paid this much out of pocket.

My bill was a little over 38k. I had to stay in an extra day because of the whole swollen entrance thing to my new pouch.

Out of pocket was about 600. 450 of it was for the nutritionist but it covered all my copays pre and post op. I have blue cross hmo or whatever they call it. My coworker though got the more expensive surgery and he had no copay at all. I still feel it is the best investment I ever made!
