I don't see how it can be done at that size.

Is his surgery going to be a lot different from the gastric bypass we had?

Holy crap, I hope they can do something for him. Hate to say it, but I would have killed myself if I was even half that size. Brave man.

His bypassed segment will be a great deal longer. Most of us had 75 to 100 cm of bowel bypassed. He will have more like 150. Weight loss is greater, but so are the malabsorption of nutrients, vitamins etc so the complications are greater.
As sad as his situation is, the comments posted by the readers on that page are even more pathetic. Thing like "he should just get off his butt and exercise". Like that is even a possibility. Ignorance is all around up people. This poor man had to put himself out there like a freak show to get help. That shows how truly desperate he is. I hope he makes it through as his breathing will be the biggest issue.

I wonder if there is someway that we could get in contact with him to share our success stories. Any ideas?

That is a great idea, Michelle - and to offer him our support since we understand (sort of) where he is coming from...not sure how we could do it though, but I'll think about it...
