Vitamin Question
I am drawing a blank...
I take a multi vitamin with iron, a B-12 supplement, and a Calcium supplement. I know that one of those should not be taken with another because of the way the absorb into the body, but I don't remember which one's shouldn't be mixed. Anyone know the answer? I haven't taken any of them in a few weeks, shame on me, I know! And it's not because I don't want to take them, I have become very busy at work and it slipped my mind. No excuse, I know... but I bought a little pill box to carry them in my purse now, so I just want to make sure I am taking them the correct way!
Thanks!

Don't take iron and calcium at the same time, they interfere with each other.

A lot of times the multi vitamin that has iron in it also has calcium. If that is the case, you aren't getting the benefits of that iron anyway and should supplement with additional iron along with vit C. Take the calcium and iron doses a minimum of 2 hours apart...4 is ideal. B-12 can be taken with the calcium or alone...just make sure it is sublingual.

Well, it appears I have been taking all the wrong vitamins for the past six months and it explains while I am deficiant in just about everything! At least I hope it finally explains it. I have been taking a B vitamin complex, not sublingual....My Calcium in Caltrate, not Citrate and to top that off, I just read my prenatal vitamin bottle because of the post above and lovely, it has iron and calcium! I might as well be tossing the pills in the garbage can everyday instead of swallowing! grrrrrr

Oh, and in my eyes, my weight loss has been slow.... could the wrong vitamins for 6 months have anything to do with it?

I don't know if this is the case, but to me it is plausible. Our bodies do everything possible to normalize and to get all of the nutrients it can. You may be utilizing more food, etc. I just don't know. I do know that our intestines hypertrophy to get more protein, etc...meaning they grow a bit and the villi grow longer projections to absorb more. You are better off if you supplement well with vitamins and protein so the body doesn't normalize as much...in my opinion.
