Ipsie...
I must take umbrage with you on your post concerning cruising the Carribean. I have been on many cruises in the Carribean (and other oceans) and I have never been on a ship that wasn't immaculately maintained. In fact most cruises have tours available of the behind the scenes, inner workings including the kitchens (which are amazing by the way). Cruising gets a bad name sometimes because IF there is a virus going around a ship it can spread like wildfire...being in such close quarters and all. Once you try cruising you will be hooked. It's a great way to travel and is very affordable.
Just my .02.

I'm with you Danniboi!! Cruising is the BEST!! My last cruise to Alaska we splurged and stayed in the Presidential Suite...OMG it was just awesome. The cabin had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, balcony and even the shower and bathtub had full views of the ocean. I saw a humpback whale breach while standing in the shower (and there were no mirrors, so it wasn't me). We also had a butler waiting on us hand and foot and got VIP treatment whereever we went. We will probably never splurge like that again, but I will always have the memories!!

Crissy - How was the Disney Cruise??? Let us know, my hubby and I are thinking about taking the kids. They are ages 5 & 7...I was wondering what age you thought it was geared for the most.

The most BEAUTIFUL beach in the whole world is Hanauma Bay on Oahu. It was once the crater of a volcano, half is washed away of course, it surrounded by coral reef. There are a few grassy spots, palm trees... the fish come to your feet, they are so used to getting fed. When you enter the beach, you are at the top and can either walk down or be driven down by tram. Awesome Awesome!!!

You cannot go wrong with San Diego, and I think there are more fun things here for kids than going out of country...There are some nice resorts on the beach. Just do a search on the net...When my kids were young and we lived 300 miles away I used to bring my kids here on school vacations. The boys said they wanted to move here some day...and ended up in the Navy, and requesting San Diego as their home port. I followed two years later and love it. There is Sea World, the Wild Animal park...lots of malls, air craft carrier museum to tour, museums at Balboa park...And Disneyland is only about 80 miles to the north..Have fun wherever you decide!

Traci:
I have heard from several friends that Disney Cruises are the BOMB! They have kid friendly activities that keep them occupied while the adults can do their thing...as well as family activities. Plus there is a day at their own private island! I have researched this as an option for our crew of 5. I think once the young un' is over 5 we will book ours.

Oahu was the best vacation my hubbie and I have ever, EVER, HAD!! I loved Hanauma Bay too!! We actually rented Mopeds and rode those ALL over the island with our friends who were stained there with the Army. I've been to Jamacia and I will take Hawaii-any island- over Jamacia ANYDAY!! The water in the bay was sooooo clear you could see 30ft. down!!! BEAUTIFUL!! Expensive, but very much worth it!!!!
