Default Feel Normal ????

How long after surgery do you start to feel normal again ?? or do you ever feel normal again ??? I guess what I mean is --- do you eventually feel like you never had surgery, ( besides the smaller portions, etc ) but physically, does your body feel like it did before-- or does your insides feel uncomfortable forever ???? sorry if this is a weird question ........

I am 8 weeks out and had open procedure. Last week was the first week that I felt normal. I can do most things now. As I had open, I still have some difficulty with core strength, but that will improve with time.

Once you get the hang of an eating pattern and back to normal activities like work...it will all fall into place.

Thumbs up

I am not like most but I just hit a year and I am feeling some what "normal" now.I felt like crapola for the first three months....then just so so for the next 6 and then it stated getting better.

I still can't eat like others,I don't have all the "magic" energy people post about..but I feel better and I am making my way thru the forrest.

It does get better just took me a while

Good Luck~

Vanessa

I had LAP on 3/3/06. I felt totally normal by 2 weeks out. The only thing that is bugging me is that I get tired pretty quick. If I go shopping I am wiped out by the time I get home. Other then that, I get spurts of a ton of energy where I just go around cleaning everything in the house (that will probably change once I go back to work next week).

Default For me...

I was very tired, and very bored after my lap surgery in June of '04. I felt pretty normal though. Granted I didn't have all the energy I do now, but after I went back to work, after 2 weeks, I was moving around alot more than before. I don't normally feel crappy, but my pouchie sometimes takes on a mind of her own. For a while after surgery I had some stomach pain and it made me miserable. Now I'm on a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) drug called Protonix and have had no pain at all. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions you have and we'll do our best to help you!

I am just about 5 months post op, and I still don't feel very well. I have lost somewhere between 70 and 75 lbs, still want to lose 20-30 more. Every pound fought the good fight before I lost it, and I can just about dump on command.

People keep telling me I will feel better soon, and have all this energy. I am glad I have lost the weight, and I know it's better for my body for a ton of reasons, but I would sure love to have a normal day. Doesn't have to be a WOW day, just a normal day.

I'm exactly one week out this morning from lap RNY and I'm sitting here feeling amazed at how totally normal I feel physically. It is weird how everyone's body is different. Mentally it is a challenge because drinking and eating (the little I've done...not supposed to yet) feels pretty normal and in a way I feel cheated because it has been a struggle not to eat. Wasn't that why I had the surgery? But of course I have to put that in perspective, I don't feel at all like I would if my stomach was normal....I've just been irritated because before surgery when I had cravings I could munch on celery or pickles or something and now I can't according to the diet. It is getting easier though and I'm hoping to have a better second week. I just have to try and occupy myself since I'm not back to work for another 3 weeks (feel a little guilty about it, but not really...I deserve the time off). I think as I read more on here I'll begin to realize how grateful I should be that I'm not throwing up or dumping YET and appreciate feeling normal while still losing weight albeit a bit more slowly perhaps (8lbs so far this week). Well good luck with your surgery and thanks for motivating me to share all this stuff going on in my head.
