Can anyone suggest some ideas for smoothies (ie recipies, etc). Are smoothies even a good idea? Any feedback is much appreciated!

April, smoothies have a lot of calories, so don't drink 5 a day. It's a good way to hide some protein powder though. I use frozen strawberries, blueberries, regular banana, protein powder and yogurt with ice. Talk about filling! I've also made them with frozen mango, banana and pineapple. Basically, any fruit you like you can use, bananas thicken it. Be very careful about using fruit juice to make it, I've dumped badly on them that way.

Mine is similar to Nancy. Only make a very small amount...they are filling.

2-3 strawberries or another fruit
ice
yougurt
milk
splash of juice
protein powder (if you want)

Blend

I only use about 1 time a week or so if I am in a rush and need to take breakfast on the road with me...or on a day with a fussy pouch.

Default almost every day

I have a smoothie almost every day. I mix 2 scoops of protein powder into either watered down,Splenda sweetened juice, or 8 oz skim milk, a few frozen strawberries, and , if I have it , 1/2 banana. I get 40 gr of protein plus the protein in the milk, if I use milk, and the healthy fruits, or juice. The frozen fruit thickens it. I may nurse this all morn., but feel that with the food I eat over the rest of the day, I easily get in my protein.

I use Atkins Advantage vanilla protein powder. I mix it with Crystal Light Orange Sunrise, a few ice cunes, 3-4 strawberries and sometimes a banana..... blend well! Its delicious! Low cal, high protein, low sugar!

You can also use yogurts, and fruit with a small amount of regular juice like apple... add fruit, and for more flavor you can add some honey or peanut butter! Hmmm that gives me and idea... I have chocolate protein powder, i may mix that with milk and peanut butter for a "reeses" shake... mmmmmmm

Get creative with all the various protein powder flavor available!

If you really like smoothies, try the Light n Fit Carb/Sugar Control smoothies, they are in a red bottle. Low sugar, descent protein and only 60 calories. They are small, but do fill you up. Costly ($5 for 4 bottles), but quick and no mess.

I think they should be at your supermarket, in either the yogurt area or juice area.
