Default Psych Evaluation

Hi:
I'm new to the forum. Pre-op. I seem to be having trouble getting a Psych referral from my Primary Care Physician. The PCP referred me to the Insurance company and the Insurance company referred me to the PCP lol.
Each one thinks the other should give the referral. It's the only procedure I have left to complete so I'd like to get to it.

Anyone else have this kind of problem? What did you do? Can I just go out and find my own psychologist and bypass (sic) the insurance process?

Trish, that's what I did. Wait until you try to get it paid for by insurance!! They say it's supposed to be paid by medical, but medical says, no that's psych! Aargh. I just paid out of pocket to be done with it.

Default Thanks, That's what I did

I got the psychologist's name from Dr. Callery's office, made an appointment, and the eval is over. Of course, I had to pay out of pocket. Get this, I still haven't heard back from my Primary Care Physician's office about the Psych referral. LOL

My insurance company would only pay 50% for the Psych eval. My out of pocket expense was $98.50.
