Default Is your hubby fatter?

Last night in bed my hubby and I had a discussion about the quantity of food put on plates in restaurants. We were watching a program - Rachel Ray's best finds and they were showing the best restaurants in Chicago. The servings were huge! His comment was....hey, you are surviving on very little food, maybe I need to look at the amount of food I am eating...its probably too much. My opinion is he eats the right amount, but he loves chocolate covered coffee beans - they are 37% trans fats....the list goes on, he eats between meals steady!

I had made stuffed mushrooms last night with crab and the hubby said, you can't keep making tons of food, I am gonna gain weight. He was 117lbs when we married 13 years ago and now weighs 135-140lbs.

I have noticed a big change in the amount that I need to cook at mealtime. Its hard to believe that I ate that much before, but I guess I did.

My question is....did your family members gain or loose weight after your surgery?

My guess is its probably a spit 50/50 as we are cooking more consciously on one hand, and on the other we are eating less thus maybe a family member is eating more.

Thoughts?

My family all lost weight especially my husband. He is the type who can eat anything and everything and stay normal. He is now skinnier than ever and tells me he has a tiny stomach like me....pretty wierd. I want him to just eat normal because he can.

My hubby has also lost about 15 lbs in the last 3 months. I think it is a combination of not having anything unhealthy in the house anymore and him watching me eat. Maybe he doesnt want to over eat in front of me. He says he is watching is portion control. This is a man that can eat 3 dinner plates full of spaghetti! My 6 year old daughter is also more aware of what she is putting in her mouth and constantly asks me "is this healthy?". We are all getting healthier together and that's a good thing.

i am a new post op but i would like to comment.
my boyfriend has been doing all the cooking for himself since i had the surgery when he is at my place. lately thats been everyday for 1-2 meals. he says when hes at home with his parents he watches his portion control also and at work. he also has been doing a lot of house work for me like vaccuuming and dishes that he wasnt doing before because well its my place so thats increased activity..
not to mention he is the one taking my 75lb rottie/pit bull mix on several walks a day.

so far he has lost about 6 lbs so im really proud of him.
before my surgery we would eat out 3-4 times a week. and im talking appitizer, entry, sometimes desert so we were constantly eating junk. im happy we are both eating for the better.
besides he really only needs to loose about 25 lbs, 6 hes already lost. hes 6'4 so hes not overweight as much as i am because im 5'4.

im still proud of him.

My husband has never been fatter than me. He was up to 287 before he decided to join the military and managed to get down to around 210 before he left for boot camp. He is not by any means healthy but he has maintained that weight because of the Marine Corps regulations. Now that I am losing the weight he is trying to become healthy by eating right and exercising. What a concept!! LOL He wants to be "hot" when he gets home.LOL He is already "hot" in my book but whatever LOL.

When I met my husband over 2 years ago, I was a devote Weight Watcher. He lost some weight when he met me. Then, I went off the deep end (thus needing the surgery), and he gained about 25lbs along with me - so I was the bad seed here. I think, as I'm allowed to start eating normal people food (please Lord, please make that day come fast!), he's going to lose weight along with me. But, he's not really overweight. He has a cute little pooch, I have a cute new pouch - a match made in heaven!

The poor guy - I got out of the hospital on Thursday. I KNOW he didn't eat well while I was in there because he was running back and forth between my hospital and the one his Mom is in - tonight was probably the first good meal he had in over a week - he made himself a small steak and a baked potato. And he felt BAD eating it in the house - so he cooked it on the grill, and ate it in the family room (I was in the living room on the other side of the house). How sweet is that? He didn't want to eat in front of me, and he wanted to keep as much smell out of the house, powering up a huge gas grill to cook one small steak. God I love this guy! My tummy is so wacked out right now, a bite of steak would probably KILL me. No thank you - I'm having an affair right now with SF jello!

I just had surgery 2 weeks ago, but my husband has lost 25lbs. in the past 2-3 months. I don't know if it has anything to do with my surgery or not, but I am glad he is getting in better shape for his health. Thank God he only has about 50lbs. to lose total!

My hubby and I both weighed 282 pounds the day I went for surgery-He had even considered the surgery himself, but decided that it was not for him. He has though, been trying to lose the weight. Since my surgery-he is down about 40 pounds. He walks everyday-and I am so proud of him. He does have a tendancy to finish what I leave on my plate and I'm trying to discourage that habit. I weighed 110 pounds when I met him-over 30 years ago and he never said anything as my weight crept up and up and up. He is the best. Thank You Lord for my hubby.
