That's where you swallow the contrast and they fluoroscope it or x-ray it as it travels down through your pouch. Done the next day after surgery. It's to make sure they didn't leave any openings in your staple lines or sutures. A friend of mine showed nothing on the leak test, however, but had one - ended up with peritonitis, etc. Luckily, they caught it before she left the hospital, turned her lap RNY into an open, and fixed the problem, then slapped her in the ICU for a few days. She's doing great now.

My surgery was around 10am (I think) and after being moved to my room from recovery, it wasn't too long before I was up and walking. No one came in to make me walk, I just wanted to. There was another woman there walking who had had her surgery 2 days before mine and we walked together, but I don't remember much of it. I went in on a tuesday and was out on friday. I would have gone home on thursday, but since I was going to San Bernadino for my recovery, they wanted to keep me in longer. That and I wasn't producing enough pee to make them happy.

i had it last wednesday. i was in my room at 11am recovering from surgery. i as begging to walk at 1pm. they finally let me take a walk at around 6pm. i was in icu overnight, doctors standard procedure. i would not let the nurses help me out of bed or hold my hand while walking. the next night my friend and sister came to visit.. but they went to dinner during the visit. i walked out and waited in the hall when they said they were on their way up. i was also moved to a regular room that night. i was released the next morning at around 9:45. so 2 days. i couldn't wait to get out of there! oh btw the nurses unhooked my iv and we walked holding my foley bag.

I had open at 9:15am and was up and walking around assisted at 4pm. The next morning I had a shower and walked at least 15 minutes every 2 hours for the next 6 days until I was released. It was slow at start, but important for you to be up and around.
