Default Why not a pill??

Well Bridget asked me a very specific question today. So here is her very specific answer!

Why are liquid vitamins better for you then pills?

Choosing the right multivitamin is a very difficult undertaking. With so many choices on the market, its important to know a little bit behind the scenes in order to make the right choice. So what do you look for in a multi-vitamin? Well, that varies depending on your needs, but to fulfill the basic purpose of a multi-vitamin, it needs to contain a wide variety of vitamins and minerals. By now your probably thinking, OK, well i thought all the "multivitamins" did include the essential recommended daily intake? If that's what you thought, sorry to break it to you, but your wrong. In order to fulfill your recommended daily intake you would need to take, on average, 10 multivitamin pills a day! Who wants to swallow 10 pills a day, I know I don't, if your with me, then read on.

Pills are simply not able to contain the required amount of ingredients to meet the recommended daily intake within a single capsule. The reason being, a pill requires other essentials before the vitamins and minerals can even be added. The pill needs to be stable enough to be ingested, in order for the active ingredients to be absorbed. Up to 80% of a pill can be filler, certainly they cant fit the daily recommended intake in the other 20%. Many times those fillers are things like paraffin! That's candle wax folks! Another reason pills are in-sufficient is the fact that the pill itself inhibits the absorption of the active ingredients. This means you aren't even getting all of the vitamins and minerals that are in the pill. As your body expends energy digesting the pill it's letting things slip through with out being processed. Think of it like this. The pill is a soccer player on steroids. Your digestive track is the goalie trying trying to catch all the soccer balls, or nutrients, so he can put them where they need to go. That poor goalie just can't do it at that insane rate of speed! Those balls are flying every which way none of them going where they need to go and half of them shooting right past and ending up in the bushes! Now picture your liquid vitamin as Mia Hamm. Very controlled, not rushed, just exact. Working together with her team to make sure each soccer ball hits the net. Make sense??

Liquid vitamins have almost no filler in them whatsoever, in turn, you get larger quantities of the essential vitamins. Not all liquid vitamins are made equal however, but generally speaking, they all out-do a pill. The best liquid vitamins will give you 100% of your recommended daily intake for 10+ different vitamins, as well as a mixture of various other vitamins and minerals. Liquid multi-vitamins should not only be packed with the vitamins you need, but also provide general nutrition. Some liquid vitamins are also supplemented with much needed minerals. Like the ones I have posted about.

To sum things up, there is really no reason to take a multi-vitamin pill. Liquid vitamins compare in price, and beat pills in every other department. Choose your multi-vitamin wisely, and you'll be on the path to a healthier, more vibrant you!

I agree. I have been using Liquid Ultra Mega from GNC. It tastes like hell, but I just pound it like a shot of cheap tequilla. One in the morning, one at night. Funny but if I miss a dose, I can really feel it.

I take one from Vitamin World.. it's a multi liquid with other stuff and I don't have to mix it, it tastes good. I was having all kinds of neurological problems until I switched from pill to liquid. I wasn't absorbing enough of the pills.

Ok, maybe I need to do this....ugh. I generally hate liquids, but which kind taste like OJ and where can you get them? Any thoughts on calcium? I have been taking the Calcium Citrate with D regular tablets, but I just saw that they came out with chewables that are citrate instead of carbonate and I got some. I just do whichever.

Marty do a search uner "link to my vitamins"... then go to "What a deal on Vitamins" to order them at the thinner times discount.

It's surprising how little the surgeons actually know...they leave it up to the nurses to educate!

Hey Robin...I ordered some! I think the shipment went out yesterday or Tuesday.

I will let you all know if it really tastes like OJ or not... Either way, I think Robin had good points, and I for one..want the most of this experience..and the more vitamins and minerals I can get in to nourish my body during that radical process.....the better!
