Question Lap --> RNY / ANY EXPERIENCE

Hello togehter,

Has anyone some experience in having a Lap Band and getting a RNY-Bypass than?

I got my LAP about 1 ½ years ago and I’m not successful. So I will have it removed and get a RNY-Bypass at the 24. of March this year.

I had to pay my LapBand myself and so will I have to pay for my RNY.

I’m worrying, if I’ll be again not successful after the new surgery again.

Did anyone here go through this already – what was your feeling afterwards? Did it work out? Did your eating habit change?

Thanks so much for your help (and sorry for my bad English)

Greetings from Germany

Gudi

that sucks about having to pay for three WLS, i know that once is hard enough.

i think that the Bypass will force you to lose the weight, from what i understand with the lap ban is that you can each as much as you can just slowly, and the hunger does not go away.

if you chose to have the surgury than you should look forward to losing weight and being in better health.

I don't have any advice specific to your situation, sorry. I did want to say good luck and applaud you for undergoing surgery again. It takes bravery and courage to pick yourself up after defeat and try again. Kudos to you. We will be here for you every step of the way if you need support. Congratulations on your new surgery date!

Default Band

After reading tons of messages on band boards and looking at weight loss success and maintenace from bands vs. the RnY, I am convinced RnY is the way to go. In too many cases the band was not real effective and high maintenance with the fills and erosions. My heart goes out to you as many choose the band since it appears less invasive. Read the threads here and check out the weight losses...the results are quite amazing. Having to self pay so many times....I too will be self paying for RnY and am glad I researched further before choosing to band. Good luck with whatever decision you make as all decisions are so individual.

Hi Gudi

There are quite a bunch of people at the swedish forum that have done a band first and then a gastric bypass after alot of complications.

The only thing is that these people have a slower weightloss because the body have had a rough time with little food and such, so it might take some time for the body to adjust and burn fat again.

But there is no reason to belive you will not make it..

hugs
Lovisa

Greetings....lap band can be successful for some. Most of the people here had the RNY and you can see for yourself how successful they are when you read their signature. Wishing you the very best for your surgery and keep us posted on how things go.
