Default weight lifting after WLS

i know I will weight 2 months to begin weight training again, anyone think this is too soon. or not soon enough for heavy lifting

I used to lift alot, I hope i can get enough protien in my body to contribute to muscle groth. is ISOPUR the best way to get alot of protien?

I know I will never be the worlds strongest man after the surgury, but I really dont want to lose my strengh.

thanks guys.

you will see me posting here alot so hope you dont mind some young punk taking up forum space.

Be careful with the lifting and check with your doc and let him know this is an interest to you - he and your dietician can help you in that department.

Otherwise, welcome to the forum family

I started weights about a month after surgery. I started light and about 2 months out I got a trainer......he works me hard but I am not body building. Just "ok" things with your Dr. and remember every Dr is different.

both my American military doctor and civilian icelandic surgeon would not permit weight lifting until the three month mark and then it was full on, no restrictions other than what your body can take. For me, I am not trying to get any mass, just tone, so I do a lot of light weight, lots of reps and sets. So far, so good. Just ask your doctor what he recommends, every one is different.

good luck!

I was told a minimum of 6 weeks dependingon the healing process. No weights greater than 10 lbs. After the 6 weeks the doc would give me a yeah or nah. Good luck, I am planning on lifting again also, but after you have had the WLS you will understand and not be as big a hurry. You energy level plummets and its difficult to get in the required protein for life much less muscle building.
