Hi Samantha........welcome to the board. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. There is so much to learn here....here is my advice

~Click around the board and read up on old posts, there are so many topics covered extensively on here.

~Avoid the temptation to buy too many supplements......you don't know til after surgery which ones you'll drink. Buy a few, then go for more of what you like.

~Stock up on beverages, they are most important post-op for hydration (almost everyone loves the sugar free popsicles right after surgery).

~Remember no matter how badly you feel when you wake up, that you will feel better amazingly quick as each day goes.

~Walk, sip, rest, REPEAT after surgery.

~Keep posting!!

Hi Samantha!

You're in almost the exact same position as me, although my highest weight spiked at 355 (and I'll be 25 in may, but hey, close enough!) Marty's advice is bang on (oh Marty you smarty! ) and I can say that, personally, getting up to exercise was not at all hard, except for that very first time in the hospital, and even though I was shocked at how easily I was able to putter around once I got my feet shuffling. I know this might sound unbelievably weird, but my favorite parts of the day right now are when I jump on the treadmill and just walk and groove to my iPod; I can already do sustained walking for 30 minutes at a time (going around 1.5mph), so you might REALLY surprise yourself with how quickly you bounce back (I know I sure did!).

Congratulations on your surgery date and hope to be seeing more of you around!

Welcome aboard Samantha. I echo the rest in saying a lot of great information is located here. I went through a myriad of emotions and this site has proven to be a great support team as well letting one know that you are not alone in a lot of what you are and will feel, both the good stuff and the not so great.

Congratulations on your up-coming surgery. Take it one day at a time. Chances are, if you have thought it, or felt it, we have to, someone out there has gone through it. Express, express, express.
