Dyann, yes at a hotel still, but another one. We drove 5 hours toward home today and we had to stop...I was so tired and needed go get out and walk a little. The wind is blowing of gusts up to 70km or 50miles per hours, so the walking was a challenge.
Karen - some doctors use tubes others don't...it really comes down to personal preference of the doctor. Be thankful you didn't have any tubes - I has one nasal, one drainage for stomach tissue and one g-tube in my old tummy. All gone now, and doing well.

yes, Chad is a hottie
However! I can trace my interest in medicine all the way back to the beautiful and kindly Dr. Kildare, Richard Chamberlain.....
I never liked Ben Casey, tho. He was crabby and acted arrogant--just like other doctors...(not Dyann tho!)

I think my pop culture influences were actually Hawkeye Pierce from MASH and Maude. I am probably a combo of the two. I was a little young to understand how advanced Maude was for the time, but in reruns I got it and loved it. My grandmother was a seamstress and she taught me to sew early. I was pretty good at doing all of the sewing in the OR early on, but now there are fancy stapler devices and it is becoming less and less.

I was a little too young for Dr. Kildare, but I LOVED Ben Casey! That sexy, smoldering, brooding look! YEE HAW!
I find it hysterical that a large portion of the forum has no idea who we are talking about--AND that we have completely hijacked Lisa's thread! SORRY, LISA!

No G-tube
I had neither a G-tube nor an NG tube at any time in the hospital. The JP drains (I had 2) came out on their own while I was still in the hospital. I guess I was lucky in that respect.

(thread crap) Dyann, I have a question for you. As a medical professional, was it terrifying to go under the knife? I'm a PICU nurse and well, I'm pretty scared. lol Daily, we see surgical patients and we see complications. Don't you think that "too much knowledge" can be a bad thing? lol I wish I could erase my brain until after my surgery on march 30th. lol
