Default Dry mouth?

Since starting on pills for gall stones (Urso Forte) and iron pills I have had a terribly dry mouth. It gets very bad at night. I'm not sure if it could be because of the new meds or because I'm not drinking enough. During the week I get 64 oz of water plus other fluids like some milk and ice tea or crystal light in the evenings. I don't get near that much on the weekends. Anyone else have this problem and if so have you been able to get rid of it?

Thanks,

Dave,
I think you nailed it when you asked about how much fluids you drink. I bet if you increased the amount of fluids you're drinking you wouldn't have as dry of a mouth. Good luck!

I'll betch that its a combo of both if a side effect of the neds is dry mouth. Increase your fluids if you are able, and try to keep it on the pure side (like water) until the dry mouth eases up...

Best of luck

I can't remember where .. but I just read recently that you don't create as much saliva when yer not eating as much fats and carbs ... so our mouths will tend to get even dryer at night while we sleep. Yer meds combined with that maybe making it worse..er?

I have dry mouth too, and I don't even take meds for gall bladder. I do sometimes chew gum when I can be drinking water. If you are Post-Op BE CAREFUL NOT TO SWALLOW THE GUM!

Sugar free mints help too.

Default I'd look at

When it started, and if it's medication induced have them switch you to another kind. Research the side effects online. Suzy

Thanks for the advice. I had really dry mouth in the hospital but it got better over a couple of weeks. Then I started these two new meds and since then I've noticed it being worse. It may be a coincidence. I have a support group meeting next week and the doctor is usually there so I'll ask him then. I just thought maybe it was something common.
