Default Yet Another Insurance Question

Okay, say you have the surgery in March and then your insurance changes in August....what happens??? How is your follow-up care (labs, etc.) handled? Does the new insurance cover it, or is it considered a pre-existing condition? Just wondering since my hubby got a new job that starts in August and our insurance will be changing.

Thanks!

I had the same situation. I had surgery 11/28/05 and my insurance changed on 1/1/06. With Dr. Callery's office all your post ops are included in the surgery fee. I only pay my co-pay, based on my surgery insurance.

I am so glad you asked!! I am having surgery in march - my insurance was approved in December (is there a statute of limitations?!), and we will hopefully have the same insurance effective May 1, but it may change depending on the pricing that is rolled out 3/15. I run our benefits dept. and may be able to have influence with it, but am not the final decision maker...
