Steak Baaaaaaaaaaaaad
Ok, I know what you're saying...."what kind of idiot tries to eat steak less than 3 weeks post op?". That would be me. I had about 3 bites at a resturaunt before my wife says I went completely grey and ran to the bathroom and ralphed. Of course the place was packed and it was quite embarassing. I immediately felt better but have decided that was enough food for the day.
By the way I am eating real food just fine. My doc said I should be on the pureed diet for 4 weeks. I did it for about 3 days. I just couldn't stand the mush factor. I am chewing the hell out of everything, following the 30/30 rule, and taking about 30 minutes to eat. I have been eating tons of sushi. I have my next weigh in on Feb 1.
I had to go buy a smaller belt this week and I had a link removed from my watch band.

take care of your pouch
please take care of your still healing pouch sweetie pie.
I'm just concerned for you. And yes, if I make my pouch mad even at almost 6 months out....it stays grouchy for days.

Awwww Danni. Whenever you try new things you should always try them at home first. I got sick the first time I tried it too, but I tried it about two months later and it went down fine. Steak is a hard meat for the body to break down.

I had steak early out...I was an early meat eater, but I think it was at about 2-3 months. I can't remember, but I knew it was rather early. I was told by Dr. C to do so due to my lack of protein and anemia. I chewed it until it was pulverized.
Be nice to you pouch, it is still trying to heal and is very small. Meat is very hard to eat especially at your stage. The good part of it, was your pouch letting you know it wasn't ok. I tried a few things early out and boy did I have a hard time...one being oranges..duh??what was I thinking. It was so awful, I thought I was going to die! I still can not do oranges...too much acid and sugar.
congrats. on the smaller belt already. What an awesome feeling.

I have no problem
I have absolutely no problem with steak, beef of all kinds, but when it comes to chicken I can't eat it period. I throw it up. I was eating steak at about 2 mos post op, but I was cutting it in tiny pieces the size of my pinky finger nail, and chewing until it was liquid before swallowing. You are probably too early out to tolerate, try soups, they worked well for me. Suzy

How I would love a filet mignon right now. Beef has a high component of ligamentous and cartilagenous material as compared to other meats which makes it very difficult for us to digest early on. You are a brave man, but I guess you found your line in the sand you can't cross just yet. You are doing great.

Wow
I tried beef at like 9 months... and it was only in spagetti. I can't remember when I tried steak, but I know I have. Not a big beef eater. Even before surgery.
