What would you do? O.T.
This is totally not related to wls, but maybe related to jealousy post-wls.
For the last 3 years, I had the same manicurist doing my acrylic nails. When I was heavy, I didn't have any problems. The last 6 months have been so hard on me. My nail girl has been doing my nails and they either lift off or they are longer on one hand drastically more than the other. The lifting, she claims is due to lack of vitamins and anesthesia..this is her claim, so I am ok with it. The nails being significantly longer on one hand than the other, is not my fault. Today, I went back and complained to the manager. I told him I paid $33.00 for just a FILL and I wasn't happy. I said that I even measured the nails with a tape measure...the kind we measure our waist with, so you can bend it. Anyway, he told me she would fix them, by filing them down. Well, if she filed one side I would lose my French tips...meaning that side would have skinny tips and the other side would have fat tips. The manager said...don't worry, she will grind off the acrylic and then re-do them. With that in mind, I decided to go ahead and get a pedicure. After the pedicure, she said to me, ok let's fix your nails. Gosh darn it, she filed them down and said ok, now leave them alone!! They look dumb. I left and told my daughter that I wasn't going to go there anymore. She was mad at me for complaining. I was thinking why? I wasn't being mean. I noticed that ever since I got thin, she has treated me differently. Should I give her one more chance? A few fills ago, she broke 2 of my nails while she was grinding them and she told me it was my fault and charged me for broken nails? What??
I just don't know.
What do you all think? give her another chance or dump her and find someone new? She does a good job...I think when SHE wants to.

It would be interesting to see what another nail salon says after your nails start lifting......NOT knowing you went through WLS. I agree, nail salons are a dime a dozen! Go elsewhere, perpahs they will treat you kinder.

Dale no..nooo. She has had one chance to many. There are way to many nail shops out here that will give you great customer services. You have been going there for a long time apparently, you deserve better customer services. Dale I hope you get better treatment then what you have been getting.

You girls are all awesome. I guess it is time for me to move on and stop being so nice. Sometimes, niceness doesn't pay off. I feel like I have given her way too many chances. Anyone know of a good manicurist here in Escondido, San Marcos area? I am ready for a change.

I say dump her. I have been going to the same lady for about 12 years (or longer), and she does an awesome job ALL the time. She will do anything for me. There have been times when she has painted my nails and I didn't like it and she could sense it she would take the nail polish off and re-paint them another color. You are going there for a service. You are paying her for something you want. She should want to make you happy no matter what. DUMP HER she's not worth your money!

Q: Why do acrylic nails lift?
A: To ensure proper adhesion, be sure you prep your natural nails before applying the acrylic. Nails must be clean, dry and free of any lotions or oils. The cuticles must be clean and pushed back. Laying the acrylic on your skin will cause lifting. Lightly buffing the shine from your natural nail will also help adhesion. Be sure the acrylic is completely dry before applying any lotions.
Fire that nail tech and get yourself another.
I do my own nails and my families. My daughter has a nail lifting problem. She has very, very dry skin and is always into the hand lotion so if I don't get all the oils off when I do her nails they lift off within days of application.
(Read more here: http://www.lcncanada.com/resources/s...art.htm#prob10)
Now here is another small tip. Think back here to your fat days.....I bet your hands feel colder now. Cold finger tips keep the chemicals from bonding completely. I put my daughters hands under warm air before applying.
