Having been the manager for several high-end salons in San Diego before "retiring", definately find a new girl. Nails can also lift with a shotty product. I know of two salons and two nail girls that are unbelievably good, but it might be a bit of a drive. One's in El Cajon, the other in Mission Valley. But even when I moved up here I still drove all the way to the one in El Cajon, an hour and 10 minutes, just to have this girl do my nails. The product is top of the line, and I NEVER broke a nail or had a nail lift, in the three years I went there. Let me know my lil flower....

You girls made my morning. I feel so much better asking you all for advice. I will find a new girl. I changed my hair sylist because she kept cutting my hair the way she wanted to and not they way I asked. Now, I am thrilled with the new girl I found. I think sometimes, I am just afraid of change and afraid of hurting other people's feelings. It is time for me to get over it and move on.
I love all ya! Robin, I will have to get the number of your girl. It will be worth it for me to drive.

Fire that nail tech and get yourself another.
I do my own nails and my families. My daughter has a nail lifting problem. She has very, very dry skin and is always into the hand lotion so if I don't get all the oils off when I do her nails they lift off within days of application.

Now here is another small tip. Think back here to your fat days.....I bet your hands feel colder now. Cold finger tips keep the chemicals from bonding completely. I put my daughters hands under warm air before applying.

Too bad you aren't in the area.
My hands have always been cold..even at 239 pounds. I just think the nail tech is losing it and wants a quick $. The other day she mentioned she couldn't leave early because she wanted $$$ and would miss out on the afternoon rush. The light popped on over my head. I thought to myself that I am taking up her time when she could be making money on someone else.

Robin,
I think they probably use a generic product. I never see any name brands. Everything is in generic containers and just labeled as the health department requires...hmmm. You have me thinking now.

I think this is a really ridiculous situation and I would take my business elsewhere. This place sounds very unprofessional.

I have a problem that I can't get acrylic nails anymore (or even wear my nails past the ends of my fingers) due to them curling around the ends of my fingers. This just started during the last 4 years. I used to have really pretty nails and this really saddens me. I know that I have other medical problems but what could be causing the nail issue?
A couple of my nails have deep vertical ridges too so that when they curl under the ridges will split. The doctors are no help so I'm just hoping one of you nail guru's has some idea.

Get another person. I have never been loyal to any manicurist until recently when i found someone by chance who does a wonderful job, is very nice and wants to make sure that i am happy with the job she does. Shes off of murphy canyon. You pay for a service and should be happy with what you get, if not someone else will appreciate your money and be happy to give you want you want.

Nails
I too stopped going to my manicurist - after I lost the 200 lbs she started to act funny, and when I called to make an appointment with her, she said she was busy when I got there and gave me someone else, who proceded to cut me in 3 places!
I noticed that heavy people that knew me when fat treat me totally different now, sometimes a little mean. I don't talk about the weigh loss with them since I am sure it would make them uncomfortable. Still it happens.
