You know you may want to have him sign on here sometime to see that you have a great support system. I know when I was going through all of this my best guy friend and my mom worried about me. I had them both look over all this and it helped a little. CONGRATS on the approval that's the easy part. You are so close to joining our group of losers. I look forward to seeing you on the other side. Don't forget to put your date on the CAL so we can stop by and see you in the hospital.

XO
Good luck

Sondra,
Wooo hoooo! Congratulations! The second biggest hurdle has now been cleared. Time is going to fly for you now. Very soon you will join us losers. I agree with Tonya, have your husband check out this forum with you. You are just a click away from having any question answered. Looking forward to meeting you. Good luck and God bless.

Default Sondra,

You and your husband can rest assured that you are in good hands. You have one of the best surgeons in the US with a great track record! You've done the hard work to get here. I would suggest having your husband look at different (this one too), peoples journals. To read how everything went, what to expect every step of the way. It helped me and my husband. The more informed you are, the better prepared you are for all outcomes. You have us too for emotional support.

Let us know when your surgery is so we can come visit you! The time will really fly for you now.

Smile Yay Sondra

Sondra,

Congrats on your approval. Tami emailed me and told me you were approved. I was so excited. The hard part is over now.. well, except for the first week post-op..

As far as your husband goes, I wasn't married when I had surgery but my father was quite worried about me and I had to reassure him that I would rather die trying then die not trying. It is not an easy decision to make, and we all know that. Nobody went into this thinking "oh I want to have major surgery" but we all knew that we needed it. Just let him know that you love him and that you are doing it to make your lives together longer and healthier. Hopefully he can research it a bit more and know that you are in safe hands.

Wishing you a safe trip out here and a safe and speedy recovery..

Sondra...first off, congrats 2ndly...get the book Weight Loss Surgery: Finding the Thin Person Hiding Inside You by Barbara Thompson. It even has a letter written by her husband to all significant others. She had the RNY a few years ago and it is very current info on all stages of the surgery.

Default Thanks for all the support

Thanks to everyone for being so nice on here. It is amazing all the support you can get from a computer screen! The town I live in is so small we dont have any kind of support meetings/groups or anything like that here. I suppose if I drive an hour and a half away to Columbia Missouri they might. I know that Tami was going to see about groups/support in Ozark where she moved to but not even sure how that is going.

I plan on calling Leslie today to see if she got the fax from my insurance or not. I also need to find out how much I have to pay up front to Dr. Callery, being off work for 6 weeks and my husband for 2 weeks so he can come out there with me is gonna be hard on the pocket book! But I know it is gonna be way more worth than I can imagine.

Thanks Tracie I think I will go to the store on my lunch break and see about getting him that book to read. He knows a lot about it but is just worried, as he should be, about the going under part of surgery. I am not worried I have had two c-sections and another surgery and done find so I am not worried at all and Knowing that Sandi had done well makes it easier too. I have the same Factor V Leiden clotting disorder she does.

So thanks again for all the help and support and as soon as I get my date exact I will post it.
