OT... John was hurt today...
My sweet hubby was hurt today and we just got home from spending the last almost 6 hours in the ER....
He was working on a chainsaw, and was holding the motor part of it with his right hand and with his left hand he hit the trigger to see if it was working, and it was, it jumped up and the fan part of the motor, got the pointer finger of his right hand and just shredded it..
He came running in and I grabbed him and led him to the kitchen sink, he said, "it's okay it's okay, it'll be alright it just hurts like hell"..... I looked at it and knew that it wasn't gonna be okay and it WASN'T alright!!..... he was in horrendous pain and there was some bleeding but not excessive. I told him to sit down on the floor, I didn't want him to fall if he fainted, he was cold and clammy and gray as a ghost, I had to get dressed, we were going to the ER!!!
Well, I had to call his family while I was dressing, then I had to call our HMO and have them call with an auth #... they sent us to the Urgent Care at Grossmont... I told the triage nurse that he was going to need more than urgent care, that I hadn't been a nurse for 20 years for nothing, she said, "just go to the urgent care"....
Well, at urgent care they said, "OOOO this is too gnarly for us to care for, he'll have to go to the ER!!!".......... well duh!! I was so angry!!! You can imagine my red hair, it was flaming at about that point.... well, on we went to the ER where we sat for 2 ½ more hours, bless his heart, he was in such pain that he was just shaking...
They finally called us back at 3:35 and from there they called a hand surgeon, well, NONE were on call today, of all things!!!!! SO, they ended up doing surgery on his finger in the ER. The doctor was very good that did the procedure, but he doesn't hold out a lot of hope that the finger tip will be able to be saved... he said that there's just so much damage to the nail and the tissue around it, the tip of the finger, bone included was just shattered..
He said that you can't put thread through flesh that has holes in it, it just won't hold.... so, he did the best he could... He gave John some Vicodan and Naproxen and an antibiotic to take for 10 days, no work for 7, and to rest all he can.... you know he's only been at his new job for 2 weeks, now here he is going to miss a whole week... We just don't know what we're going to do.... If it's not one thing it's another....
the main thing though, is that he only had an injury on one finger instead of his whole hand, praise God....
Please, all of you that will, hold him in your prayers, I hate so much to see him in pain....
Thanks everybody!
You're the best...

John....
Thank you girls for your kind wishes...
He's still sleeping, praise the Lord for that!! I gave him his meds at 10 last night and just prayed that they really work and help him to sleep all night without waking up and hurting as badly as he was, and so far so good, he hasn't wakened at all!!! I've been half awake all night just watching and making sure he was okay. I could tell by his breathing that he was resting well....
Thank you Crystal, Dale and Tracie for your prayers, you KNOW that's what works the best!!!
Love you girls!!!

Sandi & John
I am so sorry to hear of this accident that John incurred. I know you must be very upset over it, Sandi. Nobody likes to see someone they love hurt like that, and especially with his new position at work and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you both as John recovers from this ordeal.
I love you guys!!!
