Default I need help finding a doctor

Has anyone had this procedure done in the Kansas City, MO area? I'm looking to start the process towards getting this done and I've talked to my insurance company. They said they would cover it if I can find a doctor to approve it. Unfortunately they don't have a process to refer me to a qualified doctor. That's my problem. I don't know anyone in my area that has had the surgery and I don't have a regular physician to recommend one.

What I'd love is for someone here in my part of the mid west to tell me who they saw and if their doctor was good. Or on the flip side maybe doctors to stay away from. If I can't get a name recommendation then maybe you all could give me some tips on finding a good doctor.

Thanks in advance.

Ron,
Welcome to the forum. I'm originally from Missouri, but can't help you with a doctor recommendation.

Smile Important

If anyone here does know of a Dr to recommend, PM or email Ron with the info. We try to keep Primary Dr's names off the site as much as possible that support WLS.

Can't help you with the Kansas City area but I had mine done in Belvidere,ILL at the Barix Clinic my surgeon was awesomeeeeee. The hospital was great and such. I know they also have a clinic in a couple of other states, I believe they are as follows: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and a few other eastern states. You can visit there site at www.barixclinic.com

I had a very successful surgery and nothing but awesome staff...

Bariatric Surgeon name is okay, just Primary Care docs arent.. we have to protect our supporters and make sure they arent targeted by Insurance companies for investigations.

Arrow Surgeon Recommendation

You might try going to obesityhelp.com and check to see if there is a messageboard in your local area. Then register and ask people on the messageboard for a surgical recommendation.

Obesityhelp.com is a great resource, Ron. They have a directory of surgeons to choose from by state, and it looks like there are about 8 surgeons in MO that do WLS, 1 being in Kansas City.

Find out if these hospitals/clinics have informational seminars. That's a excellent place to start.
