Jeez! I wish I lived in Georgia - sounds like you have some cool stuff!

There should be some sort of nationwide clearing house for these clothes (well, I guess there is - it's called eBay!)

Donating whatever is left over to a safe house is an amazing thing - God Bless you for doing that! Those women have gone through an awful lot, and most of them leave their homes quickly and leave most everything behind.

Default old clothes

I have a friend who had the SX before I did so as I shrink out of my duds, she sends me the stuff she shrank out of and we just pass them down the line. My friend also gets her stuff from another friend and so on down the line. My support grp also has a clothing swap.

Jim,

I feel your pain! Two years ago after being a stay-at-home mom for 15 years I went back to work in an office. At the outset I invested in a classic tailored outfits in good-quality, wool, cotton and and linens. I keep my clothes in good repair and have them cleaned regularly, so most of these garments still have a lot of good wear left in them. Here's what I'm going to do when I reach goal:

One pair of my size 4X underpants (unworn) with the words "NEVER AGAIN" written accross them is getting professonally framed and hung on my kitchen wall.

Whatever can be altered, I'm taking to the tailor.

Knit shirts and tees I'll be using as pajama tops in future.

Clean used cotton undies will be torn up and used as polishing cloths for the car. (You could use your undershirts for this.)

The rest I'm giving to an organization that helps people on welfare to get jobs. It teaches folks how to make a good impression at interviews and gives them lightly-worn suitable interview and workplace clothes.

Have you thought about your shoes? When I lost a big chunk of weight on phen-fen a few years ago, my shoe size went down a size-and-a-half.

If any of the pre-op guys on here are looking for some great clothes, I have tons of 42-44 waist pants and 3x-5x casual shirts and 20 neck 19-20 sleeve dress shirts. We are talking good stuff here... Perry Ellis, Alexander Julian, Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Calvin Klein etc, etc, etc. I don't want anything for them...just promise me that you wont be wearing them for long...I want you to be on the other side with me. You could pay me back for the shipping, or not...no big deal. Just need to make room for the new stuff, I'm a clothes whore now. My wife says the surgery has turned me into a metrosexual.

Thumbs up Becky's House

I just took 5 big bags of clothes and shoes to Becky's House a few weeks ago. I'd rather give my clothes to women who need them since there but for the grace of God go I.

I am faced with a few challenges already. I live in a small town and when I take clothes to the thrift store (the only place to take them) I see people all over the place wearing my stuff (nice to see someone get good use, but still).

I made the BIG mistake of offering 2 of my friends (who are the same size as me or larger) clothes when I "grow" out of them. One took great offense because she doesn't see herselft large and the other was accepting to look through the stuff.

I have another lady who works in another department, who is a single mother and on one income who I know could wear some of the office clothes and might really enjoy them, but I am scared to approach her in case I offend her.

I spent alot of money on my work clothes and would really like to have someone I know get good use out of them.

Go to search look under ladies or woman clothing and then search for plus size.

Remember that your own WLS brothers and sisters in your own back yard are in need of clothes as well. Its a huge finanacial burden to buy clothes every 6 weeks. Be active in your local support group, or form one as well as clothing exchanges. It helps all of us. Luckily I have a WLS sisterCrystal who was always one size smaller than I was throughout my WLS proceess, here, the clothing exchange and the Salvation Army kept me clothed. If you are local and dont want to hang onto them, you can bring them by here. I have a clothing exchange every month after supprt group.
