Tyra Banks - Fat for a day
Hi All;
I just read this and thought you all would be interested:
Tyra Banks has gone undercover as a 350-pound woman.
Banks wore the fat suit to experience what it's like to be obese.
"It seemed like the last form of open discrimination that's OK, and I decided to put on a 350-pound suit myself and live that life for a day and see what happens," the 31-year-old former supermodel told AP Radio in a recent interview. "And it was one of the most heartbreaking days of my life."
Banks said she was shocked at the reaction.
"I started walking down the street and within 10 seconds, a trio of people looked at me, snickered, looked me right in my eye and started pointing and laughing in my face," the talk-show host said. "And I had no idea it was that blatant."
The segment will air Monday on "The Tyra Banks Show

It was probably heartbreaking for her because she was momentarily not considered "beautiful" or had a hard time getting a cab. I do commend her for making a feeble attempt at TRYING to understand the issues of obese people, but she has abolutely no clue.
I am tired of all these famous people going crazy to ACT like they are just normal folk. If they really were like the rest of us, they wouldn't feel compelled to TELL everyone they are "just like the rest of us".

Must be nice to be able to take it off so easily. I believe that you have to walk a mile in someone's shoes to begin to understand, not just 10 feet

Thanks for the info Baron.. I'll be watching. Whatever her reasons for doing this are, I think it will be educational for those who watch. I, for one, hope that people learn from it and can become a lil more compassionate to their fellow human beings.

It's amazing to me how someone can assume that they can "understand" how an obese person feels just by putting on a "fat suit". What a joke! I wouldn't waste my time watching that episode. Honestly, I can't believe they ever gave her her own talk show in the first place. She should be ashamed of herself, attempting to walk in our shoes by putting on a damn costume for one day. Maybe we should bombard her with emails and get on her show and really show her what life is like as an obese person! The public would get the real truth then, huh? Sorry... I just have an issue with the media and people in the public eye pulling shit like this. Enough from me. I'll probably end up watching the show just to see what she has to say! Thanks for the heads up Baron.

I agree that wearing a "fat" suit can never teach a person what it is like to be MO. I can't just take mine off when I get tired of being treated like shit or worse treated like I am invisible.
But Karla I will probably watch it too just to see.....lets call it morbid curiosity
