Wedding Cake bad luck?!
So they say you save the first tier of wedding cake for the one year anniversary. Unfortunately I am going to be post-op and will probably get sick as a dog if I eat cake that day, or any day thereafter. (Flour Power double chocolate fudge filled with white choco shavings anyone?)
Is it bad luck to do tradition a few days early? Technically I am still pre-op and can technically eat whatever I want since I'm 12 days out but I am working really hard on losing 15 pre op.
Tell me your superstitions, is it bad or in this case all good wedding mojo?

Funny, our top tier is still in the freezer and I will likely be post op when our one year comes around.
I would say personally, the tradition is all about enjoying time with your hubby and remembering your special day. So, if you want to enjoy your cake together before your surgery I say go for it!

Well I say enjoy it together before hand. I've been married 12 years and didn't even have a wedding cake to save a piece from.... you're good!

You can order a Splenda cake like Stuart and Christina had for their wedding. One was Splenda, and the others were made with sugar.

Our tier went rancid by the end of the year, so we didn't have any either. Been married 12 years also.

They also say it's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding. Well, my husband and I drove to the motel together where we were married by a minister in front of 6 (yes count them 6) of our closest friends and family members. In attendance was my 9 month old daughter, but my dad was on business and I walked myself down the aisle. We didn't have a reception or a cake...and my maid of honor was in the hospital after just having given birth. This Dec we'll be married for 10 years, I'd say we've beaten back bad luck with a stick.

= ) Same with David and I. We actually got married on a Sunday afternoon @ Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. It was my dads birthday. I called him, and said, btw...David and I just got married! They were elated.
My parents threw us a party in January and thats where the cake was from. We decided to just look at it because it wasn't worth it to me to take that bite.
My wedding is a story and since I am supposed to write the "journal entry" pre op ima just post it for every one. I realize cake doesn't make the wedding but you have to give in to a lil superstition every now and then!

I would say it is a ritual....if you are ritualistic..enjoy the cake early. Otherwise, it is superstition and the survivial of your marriage is more dependent on you being healthy than eating the cake on a certain date!!!

We forgot to save any other our cake! I've been married almost 9 yrs. My hubby also saw me before the wedding because he has a huge family and I didn't know who the heck all these people were (supposed be about 25 ended up about 75)and I freaked and started crying until he came and talked to me! It's only bad luck if you believe it is!

i think my cake top was squished by bags of frozen peas, a meatloaf and boneless, skinless chicken breasts! it was so far beyond recognizable, that, well.....what's the point. Didnt look too appetizing to me! The point is, why worry. Cake is cake. It is not gonna make or break your marriage. If a marriage's stability is based on the condition of a frozen/petrified glob of flour and sugar, then we really have some issues!
Remember your wedding day together in a more meaningful way. Why have regret that you had a bit of cake? Just silly, I say!
