I say if you want to celebrate make it a dual celebration and do it before your surgery and celebrate your married life and your new life to come. We have been married 17 years and I don't even remember if we ate it I think it went bad ..... but the marriage is good, 2 teenage children and I love my husband more now than I ever thought possible. (I'm skipping the bumps in the road but that's what made us strong)

My wife and I saved our cake, we ate it on our anniversary. Funny enough, that was the only part of the wedding cake we actually got to eat. We cut our cake, and then we started visiting, the cake was gone!

I enjoyed sharing the cake with her, and I say do it early if you need to, don't miss out on that kind of memory
