Default Is it true?

I am reading everything I can get my hands on and I've just read that people who have had major abdominal surgery "gallbladder" can not have by-pass surgery....Is this true?

Smile Galbladder prior to GBP

This is NOT True under any circumstances. There are a lot of people who had their galbladder removed prior to having gastric bypass without a problem. Actually that shows that you have had problems due to obesity and I think maybe is fighting grounds for insurance to cover it. I am not sure about that though. I still have mine. No worries you're fine..

Default Had mine removed

I had my gallbladder removed about 12 years ago. There were no problems in having my WLS. In fact, I don't think my surgeon even mentioned it. I know a lot of times, they will remove it during weight loss surgery because you can be prone to gallstones after surgery. As always, asking questions and talking to your doctor will eliminate myths.

Good luck!

Smile Yup mine is gone too

I had my gall bladder removed in 1996... it was never a problem regarding WLS. Good luck!
