Not Related to WLS, But...
Okay, so I know this isn't related to WLS, but since ya'll know everything about everything, I need to ask...
How do you train a 2 1/4 year old boy to poop on the toilet???!!! I have tried everything and he still won't go!!! He is about 95% pee-pee trained but won't poop! He doesn't have a regular schedule, so there isn't a set time for him to "go". I can't catch him in the act because the minute I turn my back he is already done! He's a quick little turd. He even knows that if he goes then there is a real BIG poop prize waiting. Still nothing!
I know someone else has experienced this too. Any ideas?
By the way...there is nowhere else I'd rather turn to get a straight and honest answer!
Thanks Guys!

It has been a LOOOONGGG time since I've thought about this... mine are 15 & 12! (Now if I could only get them to remember to flush!)
Mine were more close to age 3 before they got 100% potty/poop trained. It definitely took awhile, so maybe you are hoping for this a little early?? I don't know... there are a lot of different schools of thought.
I remember watching mine like a hawk... you know, for those little signs they give off that they are getting ready to dirty their diaper. (Along with asking them if they needed to poop or potty a thousand times a day!) One used to try and run off to a corner to do his business and I'd snatch him up and take him to the toilet. Even if he started in his diaper, I'd make him finish on the toilet. Seemed like even doing that didn't help in the beginning because he'd sit there FOREVER and not go... until I gave up and took him off. Then he'd fill his diaper. In any event, eventually they didn't want to sit in it, so they got the idea that if they went on the toilet it would be better for them. And ALWAYS praise them... it never worked to get frustrated or angry. I think that is the key... big time praise when they go!
I also used the cherrio thing... throwing them in the toilet and telling him to aim. This works better for potty though!
Best of luck to you and your little one!

Hi Terrah,
Both my kids were 2 weeks shy of being 3 when they were potty trained...and by that time they were ready, I didn't really have to do anything speacial. AND neither one of them ever worn a pull up to bed and neither one of them ever had an accident. I guess what I am trying to say is when they are ready it will happen pretty easily.
See you Thursday! to see you... where we are seeing each other!

When I was pregnant with my second child I panicked. I didn't want to have two kids in diapers. Poor Preston was off the bottle, sleeping in a big boy bed, and potty trained by the time he turned 2. He was easy. Whenever we were home, I just let him run around naked. If he started to "dribble" he ran for the potty all on his own. He hated to make a mess. Within two days he was doing both in the potty. He never even had an accident. Parker was not so simple. I tried letting him run around naked, and caught him "drawing" on the bathroom wall. A day later he was "painting" on the bathroom sink. Finally we just started taking him with us. If my husband had to go, I made him take Parker. If I did, I'd take Parker. Even Preston took Parker. I always made him sit on the potty after we were done and just try. Eventually he didn't want to be the only one NOT going. It took about a week. But he still had quite a few accidents after that. Even though it's an Olympic Event, I'm so glad mine is the only butt I have to wipe anymore!
Terrah? Cin? You all are meeting without me?? *harrumph*

I wonder if those are the one my friend Connie is attending... I'll have to ask her. I think I'll pass though! What time are they? Maybe we can meet before or after for a Starbucks or something
