drinking during eating
So is the wait 30 mins before and after you eat to drink something you do the rest of your life or just for a certain amount of time while you are recovering and getting used to your new way of eatting?

Forever!
My doc doesn't require the 30 min prior...just 30-45 min after eating. But follow your doctor's orders!

Yep, it's forever. I eat spicy stuff all the time, though. I guess you get used to it. My surgeon also said if I needed a small sip with a meal that would be OK, just not to drink a whole glass of something.

Unfortunately, it is forever. Here's a tip. If something is too spicy, eat a tiny piece of bread...it helps. Also, I have to wait 30 minutes after drinking due to acid reflux.

I had acid reflux before i had the surgery. Now I dont have it however I do get alot of burping/gas but it comes right out, lol I used to get acid reflux up in my chest and would eat a pepsid. Im only a little over a month out of surgery so I am taking it very slow. Eating really mild stuff like chicken and rice, scrambled eggs, fish, potatoes, carrots.

Yep, the official word on eating hot and spicy in general is to offset flames with a bit of bread or something cool like sourcream (Fage Greek yogurt gets my vote) or cottage cheese. Apparently the natural instinct to chug a glass of water is ineffective or less effective. You can deal w hot and spicy and also be good w your new eating habits.

What is the thing with carbonation? Is that forever too, like drinking soft drinks or carbonated flavored water.
