Gastric Bypass Reversal.....i Just Had.
Hello everyone. It's been ages since I have been here. But a lot has happened. On May 4th, I had a total reversal of my open RNY. It was a 6 hour surgery, and 27 days in the hospital.
I was on a feeding tube for 3 months. I am finally able to eat, but medicines aren't being absorbed now. So, it looks like I am getting an NJ tube (in the nose) put in this week.
Keep me in your prayers.

question
Why did you have it reversed?
I hope that everything gets better for you, and you can start to take you meds, and not have to get the tube!

When I had my original surgery on January 4, 2001, they told me it COULDN'T be reversed. Well, I was wrong. I took every vitamin in history, and ate about 100 grams of protein per day. It still didn't save my life.
Just be careful gang. You should be taking a multi vitamin, thiamine (B1), B12, Calcium, and Iron everyday.
Feel free to call me if you have any questions. My number is on my website.

Hi Sandy,
Apparently you had some serious complications with vitamin absorbtion is that why you had it reversed? Please give us a bit more information.
I hope all goes well with your reversal.

I agree with you on the vitamins. I take a multivitamin, B-1, B-12 (weekly), Dry A (Beta Carotene), Iron complex, Calcium, vitamin E, and vitamin C, and Lutein to name a few on a daily basis religiously...if I don't my levels crash very quickly. Please let us know more....on your reversal. I hope you are doing well with your recovery.

I read your piece on your website, but what happened, did you get really sick? How do they reverse it when they take out a lot of your intestines to begin with?? You got my attention.. Suzy

Dale,
Just to make sure in the multivitamin the B-1 is in that right? I am also taking B-12 once a week along with many more.Has anyone taken Juice Plus after surgery?
I was taking it before surgery.

Suzy, they don't remove anything. It's all still there floating around. The procedure is reversible, but difficult and has it's own risks too. Reversal is considered for those who can't stop losing weight or face severe deficiancies.
