Lightbulb Why not give aspirin to childern?

Hello All,

I been a member for about two years. Love THIS place.

I am writing a paper for college and I am looking for a answer to this question.

Why not give aspirin to childern????????

It's my understanding that it can cause something called Reye Syndrome, which you do not want your kid to get.

Yep, the concern is the possible development of Reye Syndrome.

I think aspirin was ok as long as they didn't have flu symptoms then you shouldn't because of Reye Syndrome but these days it seems children's aspirin just isn't sold like children's Tylenol or Motrin presumably to take the risk out of the equation.

Yup- Reyes syndrome.

I remember All My Children did a story on Erica giving Bianca asprin and her getting Reyes Syndrome must have been the late 80's.
(I was a soap addict back in the day)
