Hi Terry.. welcome to TT. There are tons of recipes here on the forum to help you get past this stage of your diet.

Go to the recipe section and scan for protein drink recipes there. Plus if you do a search on the tag "protein" in the advanced search section, you should find some there.

Good luck!

your answers are going to vary from person to person, but in my case, my surgeon and nutritionist told me to not even worry about protein until I was on semi-solid and soft foods (when I could start eating cottage cheese and yogurt)

It's common to have to try a lot of different drinks before finding one you like. I like chike. You can get samples at Chike Nutrition - Best Tasting Meal Replacement Shake. Guaranteed. Pour, Shake, Drink & Go! You can also get samples of lots of different brands at Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks!.

Then check out all the protein shake recipes at theworldaccordingtoeggface. I have to do stuff to mine to make them yummy. I don't like just the powder mixed with milk.

Terry,

Early out, my doc told me not to worry to much about the protein supplements.

But if you want to try an alternative to the typical shake type protein stuff, you might want to check out GNC for Nature's Best Isopure Plus Zero Carb bottles: GNC - Search Results

The only one I really hated was Alpine Punch. The rest I mixed with equal amounts of water and sipped it all day.

Add me to the list of people who's doc didn't PUSH the protein supplements early out. I could barely get down what was required of me liquidwise, I can't even imagine having to add 70g of liquid protein. I would be oompaloompa type full all day.

Stay hydrated and do what you can. I think a doctor would rather you hydrated than pushing too much protein at once and dehydrating yourself. I think first week it was one little shot glass of liquid every hour for me. Honestly I can't remember for the life of me what it was post-op 10 days.

I have been on the record for hating protein shakes but I did mange Isopure Icy Grape that I cut with water and light Cranberry juice and then I rinsed my mouth after I finished to get rid of the cottony mouth the Isopure created. My Nut told me to stay hydrated and if I couldn't push the protein at least keep drinking.
You are only a week behind me, so at week two you can add skim or soy milk, you can add that in and get protein! And Yogurt should also be on your diet and that is protein -non fat greek yogurt is loaded with protein!

I'm still pre-op and don't have a surgery date yet, but have been wondering about getting all that protein in when I'm in the full liquid stage. Check out:

I think a few others have mentioned it on here. It's awesome! Lots of cool recipes, tips, tricks from one WLS patient to another!

Try adding the protein powder to fat free/low fat yogurt....

Just to make sure I am getting enough protein in, I still add protein powder to my morning yogurt (I add one scoop to about 1/3 cup yogurt).

I really like the Twisted Cherry Nectar protein added to yogurt...give's it a really nice 'tang'...sweet tart.

I add a scoop of chocolate protein powder to either plain or vanilla yogurt...like eating chocolate cheesecake...
