Default Finally, a referral!

What a pain and a half! I finally received the good word from the patient advocate at my clinic and am now the proud owner of a case #. My one-on-one assessment with a bariatric nurse is scheduled for 8 Sept, which is the soonest they could get me in. Then on to bigger and better things like psych evals and meetings w/the dietician. So, the saga continues...

Just thought I would share

Best wishes on your journey, it seems to be a pain in the butt but is well worth it.

Congratulations on getting a case number. I guess this means that you're now in the system! That's great news.

Just thought I'd update:

I had my assessment today, and it went well. I love the nurse I'll be working with, which is good since I'll be seeing her quite a bit! I scheduled myself for the Psych Test (MMPI) on 9/14, and the next appt is on 10/6, where I go over results of the test and also meet w/the dietician and physical therapist.

Someone is also supposed to contact me about getting in for a sleep study (ugh), and I guess I need more labs done (double ugh).

The only down side, and I'm trying to stay positive, but the nurse said my insurance requires a 6 mo documented WL program w/my doc. I'm kicking myself extra hard right now since I didn't get on the ball sooner and am now possibly looking at January for the actual surgery. Why is it that I was so afraid to go ahead w/this just a few months ago and now I'm impatient as all get out?! Who knows...maybe my high BMI and health issues will put me at the front and I won't have to wait as long.

Thanks for listening

Sorry guys, but I didn't want to start a new topic just for little ole me so I thought I'd post an update in a previous thread of mine

I'm still awaiting insurance approval, as you can see, and have been since Halloween . I received a letter last weekend from insurance, letting me know that there is still information they need to process my request - both the phsychological testing results and proof of attempted weight loss. So, i've been bugging the folks at the WLS clinic for the past week, and finally found out today that for some reason, they neglected to include those things in the fax they sent off to insurance. Dumb! I also found out that they only included 1 month's worth of medical records from my PCP's office as well.

I hear it said over and over, but it is SO true about a person being their own best advocate! Anyway, I called my PCP and they faxed over the rest of my records. I also faxed the WLS clinic my records again from Weight Watchers (pray that they accept these even though they are from 2003) and my psychologist will also fax my records over on Monday. If all goes well, the second (and hopefully, final) fax will be sent to insurance seeking approval and I can get this darn ball rolling! Please cross your fingers for me everyone!

I so know how you feel, Marcia. I have said it over and over again that I wish there wass some sort of fast forward button to puch on the whole process. I, too am in the "jump though the firey hoop" stage, and can hardly wait for insurance to go through and get a date!!!! Argh!
