Wink Hello Everyone, my big day is Dec 9

Hello everyone, my name is Espe and I live in Orlando, Fl. I started my journey in August by attending a meeting about WLS and last Friday I finally got my surgery date: December 9 wohooo .

I have been debating about the lapband or gastric bypass and finally decided on the bypass. I do admit that I am scared when I read all the complication stories but I pray to God to lead me thru this.

I have been lurking here for a while and thanks to all you wonderful ladies and gentlemen, I decided to order the Celebrate vitamins. I need to start my liquid diet on November 26th so I will be reading about that here as well.

You guys are helping me prepare for this and you all inspire me.

I am glad to have found this forum as I think I am going into this prepared and knowing that I have to follow the rules, take the best vitamins I can afford and sip sip sip water if I want to avoid complications.

My Doctor is Dr Kim in Celebration Hospital. Anyone else having this surgery in December, anyone else that had their surgery with Dr. Kim?

Any advise you beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen can give me, will be higly appreciated.

Espe

Hi it's nice to meet you. I am also having RNY in December. December 1st to be exact! I won't be on a liquid diet, but on a 10 day low carb diet. I'll know the full details on Nov. 10th when I have my final pre-op class.

Again, nice to meet a fellow December stapler. Welcome to TT!

Hello Chrissie,

Did you decided on the Gastric Bypass from the beginning? It has been a roller coaster for me between the lap band and bypass. I finally decided on the bypass and that is what my doc and nut reccomended.

Good luck with your surgery, I will be looking out for you as we get closer to our big days.

What type of vitamins have you decided on?

I was set on the bypass from the beginning, yes. The reason for that is because I have 100+ lbs to lose, didn't like the idea of something foreign wrapped around my stomach (lapband), didn't like the idea of being able to get away with cheating because with the band, you're still able to eat high calorie/fat foods. I feel and know that rny bypass will be the best choice for me.

What are your stats? How much excess weight do you need to lose?

As for vitamins, I'll probably be going with the Celebrate line... how about you?

After much reading here in the forums, I decided to order the Celebrate vitamins and places my order today. I am 272 now and need to lose 122 to be at my goal weight of 150, but I be happy with 160 or 170.

Congratulations on your surgery date. I know all the risks can be scary. I just looked at the risks of surgery, and looked at the risks I was facing if I stayed at 270 pounds (or kept gaining, which is what likely would have happened), and decided surgery was the less risky, less scary choice. I do hope all goes well for you.

I think you made a good choice on the vitamins.

Good luck to you!

Kelly

Hi Espe. I'm (hopefully) a December surgery as well. I'm still finishing out my last appointments with the pcp, and then they submit my paperwork. My surgeon assures me that my ins. company is very good about approving and moving quickly after you've met all their criteria. The surgeon's office told me they will do their very best to get me in between Christmas and New Year's and that I am first on their list for that week.

I so don't look forward to a liquid diet for Christmas dinner, but such as it is. My New Year's has always been a liquid diet (giggle).

I'm doing the bypass too. I have never wanted the lap band because I've seen too many friends/aquaintances fail with it. As well, I don't want the hassle of always going back for fills and having a port laying there under my skin.

Not sure about which vitamins yet. I will go with whatever my doctor tells me to, to begin with.

Looking forward to more posts from you.
~Kris
