2 months out and SICK
Hi all, I am new here and just wanna see if anyone has any suggestions. I had Gastric Sept 3rd 09, then two stricture repairs on Sept 25th. Needless to say, I am still very sick nauseated and vomiting. I am eating very little and surely not drinking enough. Anything and everything makes me sick. Anyone have any suggestions or advice? Anything to drink that can soothe this or be good to drink?

Hi there.. I wish I had some advice to offer to you.. I am not sure what to suggest. Do you know if they looked for any ulcers when they did the stricture repair? Are you on any anti-nausea meds?
I think I'd be pushing my doctor for an answer, as it's not really normal to be so sick two months out, assuming you're follow the doctors food plans.
Good luck, honey.. it sucks to be sick but hopefully this will pass soon!

3 diff nausea medications? That isn't normal or safe I'm thinking to be mixing medicine.
You need to have something done, I can tell you from personal experience it is not normal.

Zofran is basically minty, if you notice which I am sure you do. Doesn't do anything for me... and i puke almost daily. Can i honestly share with you what I do for an icky stomach? 7-11 coke slurpee. The syrup from the slurpee calms my stomach. Or take a can of coke, and stir it until all the carbonation is gone and it's flat. sip it.

I don't know if this is an urban myth or not, but years ago I heard that a doctor at Toronto's Sick Children's Hospital would give sick babies flat Coca Cola in their bottles to settle their stomachs. Of course back then it contained some cocaine derivative and people got stoned drinking Coke and asprin (believe it or not). Have you also tried Gravol suppositories - maybe you have to use the other "chute" to calm the nausea??????

This is NOT something I recommend and it might seem hypocritical, but I do and will not drink soda soda.. however the syrup really helps my stomach. It absolutely settles it when the other stuff will not.
My doc said, do what it takes to get you through right now, but obviously doesn't recommend soda. Like I said, no fizzies!

I know this is a few weeks after your post - but I just saw your post. I had similar problems being nauseous and not being able to eat. At a WLS support group meeting I went to someone told me about papaya enzyme - OMG wonderful! I now carry them with me at all times. When I eat and feel any sign of being sick, I chew a couple papaya and within minutes feel better. My life is WAY better now!
