I'm a little bit freaked out by it cause it looks like ground beef. I don't eat anything that looks/tastes like ground beef. Even when I know it's not meat. If it tastes the same, I can't get it down.
Corrine, you mentioned putting it in yogurt... that makes my stomach turn. Sooooo... is it more grape nuts or more ground beef? I know I really need help with this stuff. After the detox is over in about 7 days, I wanna get back to workouts a couple hours a day and that's gonna take around 100g protein a day.

I find it's more like ground flax, myself.. maybe grapenutty too.. though not as crunchy. I find it goes mushy in the yogurt so I don't like it.. it is definitely more 'cereal' than 'beef' though.. as for taste, there isn't a lot of actual taste to it, in that form. I dunno about the frozen stuff my friend Deigo uses... as I've not found it yet. I'd prefer a more beefy type, personally

I had my surgery in July, and about months before that, I kinda "freaked" about what I was/was not supposed to eat. Would I get in enough protein? What happens if I don't? What about iron, vitamins and electrolytes? What if I can't eat or drink enough to get that nutrition in? I bet I saw the nutritionist 6 times in 2 months. Each time she reassured me I'd be fine. To miss a day of protein shakes is not the end of the world.
I started juicing, making and drinking the smoothies about a month before surgery. I wanted my body to be in the best shape ever before I went into the surgery. I also wanted to know that my body accepted those veggie smoothies I was making and they didn't make me sick.
Turns out, I worried over nothing, but I'm a worry-wart. You'll be fine. Try not to stress about it. It's a very short time that your body will be in this transition period. Just go with the flow and take one day at a time. And remember to BREATHE!

I'm throwing this out there just so you can be prepared for the odd chance that your nutritionist may not be all that helpful.
The ones at my surgeons practice were VERY rigid... if it wasn't in the little booklet they either wouldn't (or maybe couldn't?) entertain any changes from what was in the booklet.
I was told everyone HAD to follow the menu/diet in the book with no variations...
It was a waste of time for me to even see the nutritionist because no matter what I asked them, they say, 'is that is in the booklet?', read your booklet, that will tell you exactly what or how much you should be eating'...
Of course, that same little booklet also recommended Flintstones Vitamins and Viactive Calcium chews (calcium carbonate) and said I only needed to get 45-50 total grams of protein a day....

I remember feeling that way too... They had given me so much information on what to eat and how things would be after the surgery and the faster the days passed, the quicker I forgot it all. But I assure u, once u get it done u take it day by day and it will all come to u... everything will fall in its place.
Cause they tell u "after the surgery, eat this or dont eat that" but truly nobody, not even u knows what u will be able to tolerate or not. Your pouch WILL let u know when u are eating something u should'nt b eating thats what i like about it!
I wish u the best of luck!

Here is an example of what I have learned online and on TT.......
So, I went out to eat with my mom because she went to her eye doctor and he gave her some bad news about her vision/brain damage and she wanted to talk about it over a beer (if you have read any of my posts you may know that my mom had GBS, got malnourished, has brain damage that affects mostly her ears, eyes and balance and judgment, and she drinks a lot of beer.)
Anyway, even though i am supposed to be practicing my diet (my choice, not my surgeon's) I ordered spinach and artichoke dip and it came with those real crispy bread chips (baguettes?) So, to me--justification set it, spinach and artichoke are veggies, cheese is protein, toasted bread---seemed like a very healthy choice (ha!) Well she asked for soft bread because she doesnt like it crunchy or dry. I told her that she wasnt supposed to be eating soft bread and if she had to have bread it should be toasted and dry. She had never heard that. She said "wow your doctor has given you so much more info than mine....mine didnt even tell me about carbonation." I am thinking he did, but she didnt remember. But, i explained to her that I didnt learn any of this from my surgeon, I learned it from you all. Bottom line, this site has been a great site for me while I waited for my surgery, patiently waited for a long long long long long time. So, thanks!!!!
I forgot the point of this post. dammit.
