Question Saw Surgeon for the first time and...

Hi all:
I saw my surgeon for the first time today. I really like him and his staff so all is good there. I have a couple questions that perhaps someone here can help with.
Did any of you have an anti-nausea patch prior to surgery? I'm use to having the anti-nausea drug in with the anesthesia and am worried the patch might not take care of the problem as well. I get quite sick from anesthesia.
Also, did any of you have to have a drain after your surgery? This is really grossing me out. How bad is it? He said I'd have to have it for a week. Thanks for any responses.

I did not have the anti nausea patch. They gave me something in my IV before I even went into surgery to prevent nausea. I don't know what it was, but it worked. If you are concerned about nausea from the anesthesia, you will speak to the anesthesiologist before your surgery. They will come and talk to you before they take you to the OR. Just let them know your concerns and they will take steps to prevent it. I was very worried about that, and he told me he couldn't promise I wouldn't get nauseous, but that he would do everything he could to prevent it. And it worked.

My surgeon did not put in drains, but I know some do. Most people say it's not really that big a deal. Apparently it feels weird when they pull it out, but doesn't usually hurt. You have to empty it a couple times a day which might be a little gross. But I don't think it's that bad.

I didn't have any anti-nausea things but then again I'm really good with anaesthesia, usually...

I did have a drain and I can confirm that it's the weirdest feeling ever when they pull it out. Doesn't hurt or anything but it just feels like... hard to explain I guess but like they're pulling something long out of you. But like I said... no pain.. just a very, very strange feeling. Passes as soon as it's out, though... so no big deal. I also only had it for 3 days.
