Well, it depends on if you are having lap or open. I had open and it is no picnic! The pain for me was pretty bad the first week and a half or so. Then I was pretty uncomfortable for the next three and just a little sore for about two weeks after that. It is different for everybody so it depends on your pain tolerance and stuff.

I had lap and was back to work after a week. I dont think it hurt at all!
I think pain is relevant thou, I have been through some pretty painful ordeals... this was a breeze!

I had my surgery done LAP. I was feeling much better by 2 1/2 weeks out. Went back to work after three weeks, wish I would have stayed out for one more.
I've had two C sections with my kids. Recovery from that was much longer and hurt more than my GBS.
I would totally do it once a month for the rest of my life it that's what it took.

I'm having the full open deal. I have had couple teeth knocked out, a finger cut off and a leg cut off so I hope the heck that it does not hurt as bad as the leg.

I had open and I felt great...I felt maybe a little pulling...but that's about it. No real pain at all....I've felt much, much worse. Like when I blew out 2 disks in my back..now that was pain.

I think you'll handle the pain just fine. Remember, this pain is temporary.

Hi Richard,
I had my surgery lap. The pain I suffered from was right after surgery was from the gases they used to inflate me (So the doctor could see inside during surgery.)
I had no pain sleeping, walking or any other time. I could get out of bed unassisted.
I pain I will mention is the few times I took one small bite too much. Now that hurts!
Good luck with your surgery.

I had my surgery done laproscopically and it wasn't painful as long as I took my pain meds. It was uncomfortable. I had had surgeries that were much, much more painful than this including sinus surgery and 2 plastic surgeries.

I had my surgery done lap and had my gallbladder removed. My hospital gave me an epidural for pain so I wa out of bed and walking a few hrs after surgery. The most pain I had was from my gallbladder. My Dr said I had a LOT of scar tissue from the gallstones so he had to do a lot of cleaning up from that. My inscisions did not bother me at all. I was tummy sleeping in a week and a half. HTH
