Default To tell or not to tell. That is the question.

What would you tell them?

I have only told one person at work that I was having surgery. I trust her to not say anything. I plan on telling people I cut back on how much I ate, started eating slower and am focusing on protein and limiting carbs. All of those things are true

i dont tell anyone, if they ask i tell them honestly, but they have to ask if i had the operation or not. i feel like its another reason for them to have a prejudice against me. hope i dont sound to sensitive, just feels that way. one man told me that if i dont like being fat, just loss weight. thought about punching him in the mouth, but restrained. i guess that attitude is what makes mw leary of being completely open about it. i say let them wonder.

Default Don't Really Care!!

You know, just about everybody at my work knows I had the surgery. They ask all time how I'm doing, how much I've lost. I just tell them "I FEEL GREAT!!!!!" The weight, well, that's none of their business, weel, I tell a few. If they want to think I took the "easy way out", fine. I really don't care. This has been a totally personal event in my life, one I did for myself and no one else. I would totally advocate the surgery, but it is a very personal thing you have to decide to do for yourself.

I am feeling wonderful and plan to continue on my path. Watch out Maui, here I come!!!!!!!!!

How long were you off work and what did you tell them when you took your leave of absence?

DaleM didn't tell. Dale I hope you'll forgive me for sharing this, or better yet please correct me if I'm wrong.

Didn't you tell them that you had some other female surgery and this was a by product of it? I don't exactly remember - help me out.

I'm totally the same, Anne- I can't keep it a secret to save my life... There are a few aquaintances I'm not going to tell until afterward. People who have a high and mighty attitude about people who are overweight. I figure they don't deserve to know.

It helps that two of my co-workers have already gone through it themselves, so they've been a huge support and I've gotten a lot of questions answered through them.

It is a personal decision! I'm a blabber. I don't really care what anyone thinks anymore. In with the positive, out with the negative.

I only told three people, including my boss. But when others comment now on the weight loss and how did I do it, I tell them. My decision was based on taking care of my diabetes and that is what I tell them. BTW, none of my siblings know...they'll see me at my daughters wedding in October...and I can't wait

Tee hee hee

I've decided. It's none of their business.

These are not friends. Not a one has ever been to my home. They offered no support when I first talked about the possibility of having surgery. All I got was negative comments that if I really wanted to lose weight I needed to just try harder.

They can sit back and turn green watching me shrink and wondering where I've gotten my new found resolve from. When they ask how I'm doing it, and they will ask, I'll just reply, "I took your advice and cut calories."
