ever since my surgery 12/22/04 ive had trouble with constipation any suggestions.

Increase fiber and fluids in diet. I use Benefiber, which is virtually tasteless and mixes clear, not gritty. A few figs or dried plums can help. Just bear in mind they have concentrated sugars. Also increase daily activity levels. Walking is a good bowel promoter. If that still doesn't work, theres OTC stool softeners and mild laxatives. Even with medication, you still need to drink plenty of water for them to work well. Plus, it's easy to get dependant on them and have to use them for life.

OH man do I have it. I get it for weeks at a time, and it SUCKS!! I would say P/M Janice (nurse05), and she can tell you what you should use. I know that she has helped me out alot. Infact she keeps me regular.

(I know TMI...lol)

My doctor had me take Colace. It works like a charm.

I use Citrucel as of 2 weeks ago. I used stool softeners and even laxatives and Dr. C took me off of them....he told me I am killing myself. He said to use daily either Citrucel Tablets and drink lots of fluids. It is like day and night now....it instantly worked and continues to work. He said that it will not hurt my intestinal tract.

The only thing that keeps me "regular" is the coffee I drink every morning lol...otherwise I know i'd have those "issues."
