Yeah!!! I Got A Referral 4 Consult - ThinnerTimes

Well, I am back from the Dr. I am happy and sad at the same time.... They gave me the referral for the consultation right then and there, I thought it would take time to go through. They can't refer me to Dr. Callery, since my PCP is affiliated with Crown Surgery (THAT SUCKS). Then I came home and read through everything and it says I have to do the 6 month monitored weight loss diet thingy. That makes me sad, but I figured that was coming. Then, since I already have my referral for the consultation I called the surgeon to make that appointment and was told that my Dr.'s office didn't do the right referral....it has to be on the "long form". So, I called my PCP's office and had to leave a message for the nurse, since NO ONE ever answers the phone over there. The receptionist told me it could be two weeks for the "long form" referral to go through.... boo hoo!! I feel like I am already having to jump through the hoops...and I am too fat to jump!!

Cincerbelle hang in there. I will be honest with you and tell you it can get worst. But we all had to start someone. You are starting out on the right path. You might want to start that 6 months supervised diet with your PCP ASAP. You want to at least get that started. Hang in there. If you stick with it and stay on top of everything it will happen. My prayers go out to you on your New Journey. Buckle your seat belt.

Cinerbelle, what a bummer, but everyone says it's worth it. Hang in there. I'm jumping hoops too. You would think "jumping through hoops" would be a fun thing. lol

I know it is a pain in the rear all the waiting and referrals and tests and assorted other BS. IT IS ALL WORTH EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT!!! HAng in there, Sweetie! It'll be over soon enough and you'll be on your way to a new life!

Well, no one has called me back from the PCP's office yet... Late yesterday afternoon I dropped off a letter to my PCP with a copy of the short referral that was useless to me. I have posted my letter below. Please read and let me know what you think!!!

"Dear xxx,

After you left the exam room yesterday I was given the short form referral for Dr. xxx. I went home and tried to make my appt. with Dr. xxx and I was told that it definitely needs to be the long form referral. I left a voicemail for you via Caroline’s voicemail, but I haven’t heard back and wanted to be sure the long form was going to be processed.

I was thinking about some weight related issues that we have never discussed and thought you may need to know about them for the referral. Listed below are some issues I personally believe have to do with my weight.

• I wake in the middle of the night with a sudden acid attack. It feels like I am about the throw up in my sleep, then the acid taste won’t go away from the back of my throat and it makes me cough/choke for quite awhile.

• Menstrual irregularities. I only have my period every 3-6 months for the past 4 years. This has been documented by my OB/GYN’s and I have been prescribed Provera.

• Shortness of breathe with any exertion (1 flight of stairs, carrying in groceries, etc.)

Please let me know if you would like me to make an appointment to discuss the above issues as I would like to make a strong case to be approved by my insurance for this surgery. I truly believe this is the tool that I need in order to live a healthy and happy life.

I left this at her office after she had already left for the day and I haven't heard anything today...I know I am impatient, but I just want a call back letting me know she recieved the dang letter and is putting through the long referral...arrrrrrhhhhhh.

That sounds pretty darn good to me! I know you are in a hurry but maybe you should wait until Friday or better yet next week and see if they have gotten it taken care of. Try to focus on some other issues so you don't drive yourself crazy!

Thanks! I have been VERY busy at work, so I thought that would take my mind off of it....but it hasn't! I wasn't going to bug her again for a few days, maybe I can make myself wait until Friday!

yea, hang in there Cinerbelle. I have a feeling mine is going to be a long process to but it's OK. It just means we'll have to be FAT (Fabulous and Thick) for a little longer
