Default Doctor not Impressed

I just got home from my four week check-up. My doctor wasn't very impressed with my loss. I've lost 15.5 lbs.

Tomorrow is my four week anniversary and Sunday is my one month anniversary.

He warned me that I have another four, maybe five months to lose as much as possible before the weight loss drops off to a very slow crawl.

Losing is better than gaining and maybe your start is just slower and all of the sudden you will drop a lot. Don't worry and don't let your doctor ruin your day or progress. Did he suggest anything or ask you lots of questions to help you out? I know that everyone is different and it is so hard for any doctor to compare each patient to anyone other patient. We are all losers, just in different ways and time frames.

Stick with us and smile because you lost weight....yippee

15.5 pounds is still 15.5 pounds! Hopefully you won't have as much loose skin, right! Maybe you are turning the fat into muscle? I thought you had said before you were getting in plenty of protein, and exercising.

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

Could it be water retention? I know after my 4 sections I had a lot of water in my legs for about 6 weeks. Water does weigh more than fat.

I'm guessing that you are just going slow because you have less to lose. Don't let it get you down. I have a feeling some of mine is going to go slowly too. Just keep eating right and exercising.......focus on living right.....it'll come off. I bet you look different already.

He spent exactly 5 minutes with me. He asked if I was taking my multivitamins, my calcium, B-12 and exercising. (Yes to all of those)
He was no help. He just reminded me that I want to try and get off as much before the 6th month.

He asked if I was drinking protein supplements. I told him no. They upset what's left of my stomach so instead of supplements I am drinking milk. It has 10 g of protein per cup.

Last night I finally found a protein powder that doesn't taste too bad so now I can add to the milk's protein.

I'm hoping to see a better weight loss next month but I doubt it will happen. I've already plateaued twice this month. One week after surgery and this week.

My body has had 50 yrs of starvation training diets. It's very efficient with calories.

I figure at this rate I will still be 40+ lbs overweight at six months post-op. 40 is better than 100 lbs.

Peck,
Sorry to hear that you are frustrated with your progress. Like others said, 15.5 lbs is 15.5 lbs! Just FYI, it is not a plateau til is last 3 weeks (at least that's what I heard) with no loss. I didn't hit my first plateau til about 6 months and that frustrated the heck out of me. Keep your chin up, follow the rules and that's all anyone can ask of you.

One day at a time. Keep on Keepin' on girl! The weight will come off. I would also encourage everyone to make the most out of the honeymoon period, because you soon will be able to eat more, I was able to at 5 months and I was hungry too. Once you are able, follow the pouch rules for dummies, this does work. Exercise works, it really does now.

The people that lose the most are men and those that weigh a lot more (have more to lose).

You are doing just fine!
